Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Future

That evening, the sun set over the cliffside estate, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of deep crimson, gold, and indigo.

Noah and I sat on the wide wooden terrace outside our bedroom, watching the city lights flicker to life below like a sea of ground stars.

The soft breeze carried the scent of pine trees and blooming night jasmine from the garden below.

Noah pulled me close against his chest, wrapping his heavy wool blanket around both of our shoulders, holding me tight in the cool evening air.

"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Ward?" Noah whispered into my hair, his hands resting gently over my stomach.

I rested my head back against his shoulder, looking out at the vast, beautiful city stretching before us.

"I was thinking about that morning," I admitted softly. "Thirty-eight minutes before a wedding that was never meant to be."

"Are you still sad about it?" Noah asked quietly.

I turned around in his arms, facing him, reaching up to frame his sharp, handsome face between my hands. I looked deep into his dark, beautiful eyes—the eyes of the man who had protected me, cherished me, and loved me with every fiber of his being.

"I'm not sad, Noah," I said, my voice filled with pure, unadulterated happiness. "It was the best thing that ever happened to me. If Ethan hadn't walked away that morning, I never would have found you."

Noah smiled—a deep, brilliant smile that lit up his eyes—and leaned down to press his lips softly against mine.

"You are my whole world, Claire," Noah whispered against my lips. "My wife. My partner. My family."

"And you are mine," I replied softly.

Hand in hand, we stood together on the high balcony, looking out toward an unbroken future filled with love, strength, and an absolute truth that no storm could ever shake again.
