Chapter 9 - A NEW DAWN

Two months later.
The Moretti estate in upstate New York was surrounded by rolling green hills, blooming apple orchards, and bright autumn sunlight.
The dark, blood-stained history of the syndicate had undergone a massive transformation. Under Vincent's strict leadership, the Moretti family had dismantled all illicit trafficking operations, redirecting their vast resources into legal real estate, international shipping, and charitable foundations.
On the manicured front lawn, Lily was running with a golden retriever puppy, her laughter echoing across the estate grounds. She wore a bright yellow dress and red sneakers, her dark hair bouncing in the breeze.
Sitting on the porch steps, watching her with a peaceful smile, was Elena. She wore a simple white sundress, her skin healthy and glowing, the bruises of her past completely healed.
Footsteps echoed behind her.
Vincent walked out onto the porch, wearing a grey linen shirt and black trousers. He held two mugs of hot coffee.
He sat down beside Elena, handing her one of the mugs.
"How is the new foundation coming along?" Elena asked, leaning her head against his shoulder.
"The Julian Vale Youth Center opens next month in Brooklyn," Vincent replied softly, wrapping his arm around her waist. "We've already funded three hundred scholarships for underprivileged children."
Elena looked up at him, her dark brown eyes filled with endless admiration and affection. "Julian would be so proud of you, Vincent. You turned something dark into something beautiful."
"Julian gave me the greatest gift of my life," Vincent said softly, looking into her eyes. "He gave me you. And he gave me Lily."
Lily ran up the porch steps, panting happily with the puppy trotting behind her. She jumped onto the porch, looking between Vincent and her mother.
"Uncle Vincent!" Lily chirped happily. "Are we still going to the ice cream parlor downtown?"
Vincent smiled, reaching out and pulling his little niece into a warm hug. "Of course we are, kiddo. But first, I have a question for you."
Lily tilted her head, curious. "What question?"
Vincent reached into his trouser pocket and pulled out a small black velvet box. He opened it, revealing a stunning, custom-cut diamond ring that caught the morning sunlight.
Elena gasped, her hands flying to her mouth as tears filled her eyes.
Vincent looked up at Elena, then down at Lily.
"Lily," Vincent said softly, his voice thick with deep emotion. "Is it okay if I ask your mama to marry me? Is it okay if I become your daddy forever?"
May you like
Lily’s face lit up with pure, unadulterated joy. She jumped up and down, clapping her hands! "YES! YES! YES!"
Elena laughed through her tears, throwing her arms around Vincent's neck and kissing him deeply as the morning sun washed over them in golden light.
