Chapter 10 - The Sovereign of the Castellano Estate

Six months later.
The grand gardens of the Castellano estate were in full, magnificent spring bloom. White roses, purple hydrangeas, and lush green ivy covered the stone archways leading down to the private marble altar overlooking the sea.
Over two hundred guests filled the white chairs arranged on the lawn—major shipping magnates, international diplomats, state governors, and every single lieutenant of the Castellano syndicate, all dressed in pristine black-tie attire.
At the front of the altar stood Luca Castellano.
He looked extraordinarily handsome in a bespoke black tuxedo, his silver-threaded hair neatly styled, his eyes fixed with laser focus on the top of the garden aisle. Beside him stood six-year-old Leo, dressed in a matching mini-tuxedo, holding a velvet pillow containing two thick gold bands.
The string quartet began to play a soft, breathtaking arrangement of classical strings.
The guests stood up in unison, turning their heads toward the stone archway.
Nora stepped into the sunlight.
A collective gasp went through the entire crowd.
She was magnificent. She wore a custom-designed, off-the-shoulder gown of heavy ivory silk that hugged every single curve of her voluptuous frame, flowing out into a long, dramatic train that swept across the white rose petals scattered along the runner. Her dark hair was styled in a regal, sweeping crown adorned with tiny pearls, and on her hand, the massive sapphire ring caught the golden afternoon sun, blazing like a beacon of absolute power.
She did not walk with her head lowered. She did not walk with hesitant steps.
Nora walked down the aisle with her head held high, her shoulders straight, her radiant smile illuminating the entire garden. She was not a victim. She was not a nanny playing dress-up. She was the undisputed, beloved Sovereign of the Castellano empire.
When she reached the altar, Luca stepped down to take her hand. His dark eyes were filled with tears—a sight that no man in his syndicate had ever witnessed before.
“You are breathtaking, my love,” Luca whispered, lifting her hand to his lips.
“You don't look so bad yourself, Mr. Castellano,” Nora teased softly, her eyes shining with absolute happiness.
The priest began the ceremony, his voice carrying clearly over the gentle sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below.
“Do you, Luca Castellano, take Nora Bennett to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in peace and in war, for as long as you both shall live?”
Luca looked directly into Nora’s eyes, his grip on her hand firm, warm, and utterly unshakeable.
“I do,” Luca said, his voice echoing across the ocean air with absolute, absolute finality. “With every breath in my body.”
“And do you, Nora Bennett, take Luca Castellano to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in peace and in war, for as long as you both shall live?”
Nora looked at Luca, then down at little Leo, who was beaming up at her with pure, unadulterated adoration, and then back at the man who had taught her how to stand tall in a world full of wolves.
“I do,” Nora said, her voice clear, strong, and completely free of doubt. “Forever.”
“By the authority vested in me,” the priest announced with a wide smile, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. Luca, you may kiss your bride.”
Luca didn't wait a single second.
He pulled Nora into his arms, dipping her slightly over his arm as he brought his lips down onto hers in a deep, passionate, breathtaking kiss that made the entire crowd erupt into thunderous applause and cheers.
Marco cheered loudly from the front row. The syndicate lieutenants raised their glasses. Leo jumped up and down, clapping his tiny hands in victory.
When Luca raised her back up, Nora looked out over the laughing guests, the sparkling sea, and the grand stone estate that was now her home.
She reached down and took Leo’s small hand in hers, while Luca wrapped his powerful arm around her waist, pulling her close to his side.

The rain of Midtown was gone forever. The cold, suffocating silence of her past was erased.
Nora Castellano took a deep, clean breath of the ocean air, looked up at her husband, and stepped forward into the bright, golden future that was entirely, beautifully hers.
