Chapter 10 - The Marlowe Crest

That evening, the air off Blackwater Bay was cool and crisp as twilight painted the sky in shades of deep purple and orange.
Savannah stood on the stone terrace, holding a glass of white wine, watching the quiet waters of the bay.
Footsteps echoed softly on the stone behind her.
Vincent walked out onto the terrace, holding his own glass of scotch. He stopped beside her, leaning his elbow against the stone balustrade, looking out at the water.
"Lucy is asleep," Vincent said softly. "Evan is reading her a bedtime story about a magical silver rabbit."
Savannah laughed softly, a rich, happy sound. "Evan is surprisingly good with her."
"He's making up for lost time," Vincent said. "We both are."
They stood together in peaceful silence for a long moment, listening to the gentle lap of the waves against the cliff below.
"Seven weeks ago, when I first walked through those gates," Savannah said quietly, looking up at him, "I was terrified of you."
Vincent turned his head, looking down at her face illuminated by the soft moonlight. "And now?"
"Now I know that the most dangerous man in Rhode Island has the biggest heart I've ever seen," Savannah said softly.
Vincent set his glass down on the stone ledge. He reached out, taking her glass and setting it down beside his, then gently pulled her into his arms.
His large hands rested warmly against the small of her back, pulling her close against his chest.
"I spent four years living in a cold, empty house, Savannah," Vincent murmured, his voice dropping into a deep, hypnotic rhythm. "I thought my life was just about protecting a legacy and fighting wars. But when you walked through that door with your daughter... you brought light back into this place."
Savannah reached up, resting her palms against his strong chest, feeling the steady, powerful rhythm of his heart.
"You gave me a home, Vincent," she whispered.
Vincent leaned down, his dark eyes burning with deep, undeniable love, and pressed his lips against hers.
The kiss was slow, deep, and filled with a profound promise—a promise of safety, belonging, and an enduring future together.
Savannah wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss, surrendering completely to the warmth of his embrace.
When they finally broke apart, breathless and smiling under the silver moonlight, Vincent reached into his pocket and pulled out the tarnished silver crest.
It was fully restored now—polished until it shone like pure gold, the falcon and the anchor resting proudly on its face.
He pressed the crest into Savannah's palm, folding her fingers over it.
"This family was broken four years ago," Vincent said softly, looking down into her eyes. "You healed it, Savannah. You are the heart of Blackwater Bay now."
May you like
Savannah looked down at the gleaming gold crest in her hand, then looked up into the eyes of the man she loved.
She smiled, resting her head against his chest as the cool autumn wind blew across the bay, knowing that no matter what storms came in the future, they would face them together—as one family, whole and unbroken at last.
