Chapter 10 - The Real Wedding

Six months later.
The summer sun was warm and brilliant, casting golden light across the rolling green lawns and blooming rose gardens of the Vance Estate.
Unlike the cold, suffocating, press-heavy circus of St. Cecilia’s Cathedral, this wedding was intimate, peaceful, and filled with genuine joy. White floral arches lined the garden path leading to a grand wooden arbor overlooking the sparkling waters of the estate’s private lake.
Sitting in the wooden chairs were fifty of the people who truly mattered—Jonah, who sat in the front row wiping tears from his eyes with a silk handkerchief; Mrs. Gable; Marcus; the staff of the estate; and close, true friends.
Inside the conservatory, Cora stood before a full-length mirror.
She wore a simple, breathtaking ivory silk gown that flowed around her like liquid light—a gown she had designed herself, free from heavy beadwork or gaudy embellishments.
And attached to her hair, flowing down her back in all its glorious, restored perfection, was the Vance Point Lace. It trailed behind her like a masterpiece of silver moonlight, its intricate floral knots catching the summer sunshine.
Jonah stepped up behind her, adjusting the final pin near her dark hair. He looked at her reflection, weeping openly.
"You look like a queen, Cora," Jonah choked out, smiling through his tears. "A real, undeniable queen."
Cora turned around, wrapping her arms around him in a tight, affectionate hug. "Thank you, Jonah. For pinning those torn scraps into my hair when everything was falling apart."
"Best decision I ever made," Jonah laughed, dabbing his eyes. "Now go walk down that aisle. There’s a very handsome billionaire waiting for you."
The quiet strings of a cello began to play a soft, romantic melody from the garden.
Cora stepped out of the conservatory, walking down the stone terrace steps toward the garden aisle.
At the end of the aisle, standing under the floral arbor against the backdrop of the sparkling lake, stood Julian Vance. He wore a crisp, tailored black tuxedo, looking impeccably handsome. When his eyes caught sight of Cora walking toward him, his breath hitched, a look of pure, overwhelming awe washing over his face.
Cora walked down the aisle alone. She didn't need anyone to give her away. She walked with a confident, effortless grace—a woman who owned her past, her present, and her future.
When she reached the altar, Julian stepped down to meet her, taking both of her hands into his own.
The officiant, a warm, silver-haired judge who was a longtime friend of the Vance family, smiled at the couple.
"We are gathered here today," the judge began warmly, "to celebrate the union of two souls brought together not by chance, but by a miraculous thread of fate..."
The ceremony was quiet, beautiful, and deeply personal. When the time came for the vows, Julian held Cora’s hands, looking directly into her hazel eyes.
"Cora," Julian said, his deep voice carrying clearly over the gentle summer breeze. "Ten years ago, I thought I was searching for a piece of lost lace. Now I know I was searching for you. You taught me that what is broken can be restored, and that true strength lies in grace. I promise to cherish you, honor you, protect you, and love you through every season of our lives."
Cora wiped a tear from her cheek, her smile radiant as she spoke her vows.
"Julian," Cora said softly. "You walked into my darkest hour and showed me what real love looks like. You gave me a home, a voice, and a safe place to land. I promise to stand beside you, to craft our life together with patience and devotion, and to love you with all that I am, forever."
"By the power vested in me," the judge declared, his face beaming with joy, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Julian, you may kiss your bride."
Julian didn't hesitate. He pulled Cora into his arms, dipping her slightly as his lips met hers in a deep, joyous kiss that echoed across the quiet garden.
The small gathering erupted into cheers and joyful applause.

When Julian lifted her back up, looking down at her with boundless love, Cora reached up, running her fingers gently along the edge of the restored lace resting against his jacket.
The torn thread had finally found its home.
