Chapter 10 - THE NEW QUEEN

One year later.
The Moretti estate hosted its annual summer gala—the largest social event for New York's business and political elite.
More than two hundred guests gathered in the grand ballroom under the sparkling crystal chandeliers. The string quartet played a lively waltz, and silver trays of champagne were carried by a perfectly trained service staff.
At the head of the main table sat Ethan and Lily, both dressed in formal attire, happily eating slices of a massive, six-tiered vanilla cake without a single worry in the world.
Standing at the top of the grand marble staircase was Dominic, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo, looking down at the crowd with absolute authority.
Beside him stood me.
I wore a floor-length emerald silk dress that matched the ring on my finger, my dark hair styled in an elegant updo. Gone was the quiet, invisible housekeeper who apologized for bumping into people in hallways. In her place stood the undisputed queen of the Moretti empire.
Dominic reached out, taking my hand in his, pressing a soft kiss to my knuckles in full view of every powerful politician, judge, and CEO in the room.
"Are you nervous, Mrs. Moretti?" he murmured, a rare, handsome smirk touching his lips.
"Not at all," I smiled, looking out over the room, then down at our children laughing near the fountain. "I have the most dangerous man in New York protecting me."
May you like
"No, Maya," Dominic corrected softly, pulling me close to his side as we began our descent down the stairs together. "You have it backward. The city fears me... but I answer only to you."
The crowd parted as we stepped onto the floor, making way for the woman who had saved a mafia boss's legacy—and captured his heart forever.
