Chapter 7 - The Glen Cove Fortress

The sun rose higher into a cold, clear morning sky as the three dark SUVs drove east along the Long Island Expressway. The heavy rain had finally stopped, leaving the pavement glistening under the bright, pale light.

Glen Cove was an affluent coastal enclave filled with historic gated estates, dense pine woods, and tall stone walls designed to keep the public out. The Falcone estate sat at the end of a private peninsula overlooking the Long Island Sound, surrounded by high wrought-iron fencing, security cameras, and armed guards patrolling the grounds.

In the backseat of his SUV, Damian reviewed the tactical blueprints of the Falcone compound provided by Leo.

"Anthony Falcone has at least fifteen private security personnel on the grounds," Frank warned, pointing at the property map displayed on his tablet. "The main gates are reinforced steel with automated biometric scanners. If we try to ram through the front entrance, they will lock down the primary residence into a safe room within thirty seconds."

"We aren't ramming the front entrance," Damian said, his voice cold and precise. "Falcone is expecting representatives from Apex Maritime at eight AM to sign the harbor dock acquisition papers. He believes the transaction is going according to plan."

Damian looked out the window at the dense pine trees lining the highway. "We use Victor Kroll’s credentials and vehicle to enter through the primary gate."

Ten minutes later, the convoy pulled into a secluded staging area in a wooded lane two miles from the Falcone gate. Frank’s men transferred Victor Kroll into the front passenger seat of a luxury dark sedan matching the description of Apex Maritime's executive transport. One of Damian’s tactical operators, dressed in a sharp driver’s uniform, took the wheel. Damian and Frank sat quietly in the reinforced rear seats, hidden behind heavily tinted privacy glass.

At 7:55 AM, the dark sedan pulled up to the massive iron gates of the Falcone compound.

A broad-shouldered security guard stepped out of the stone guardhouse, holding an electronic clip tablet. He walked up to the driver’s side window, looking inside.

"State your business," the guard said curtly.

Victor Kroll, sitting in the passenger seat with a subtle gun barrel pressed firmly against his side out of sight, cleared his throat and looked at the guard. "Victor Kroll, Apex Maritime. I have an eight o'clock appointment with Mr. Falcone."

The guard checked his tablet screen, saw Kroll's facial match on his security feed, and tapped a button on his belt. "Proceed up the main driveway, Mr. Kroll. Park in the front circle."

The heavy wrought-iron gates swung open with a smooth mechanical hum. The sedan drove slowly up the winding, tree-lined driveway, followed at a short distance by two dark utility vans that were passed through under Kroll’s multi-vehicle clearance pass.

The main house came into view—a massive limestone mansion featuring broad marble steps, floor-to-ceiling windows, and two large stone lions flanking the front entrance. Standing on the front porch were three men in dark suits, their coats bulging slightly over concealed shoulder holsters.

The sedan stopped at the bottom of the marble steps.

The driver got out, walked around to open the rear door, and Damian Rourke stepped out into the crisp morning air.

The three Falcone guards on the porch instantly froze, their eyes widening in total disbelief.

"Rourke?!" one guard yelled out, reaching reaching frantically inside his jacket for his weapon.

"Don't do it," Damian said softly.

Before the guard could clear his holster, suppressed shots echoed from the trailing utility vans. The three guards dropped to the marble stairs instantly, disarmed and neutralized before they could sound the main alarm.

Damian walked up the marble steps, pushing open the grand oak front doors of the Falcone mansion.

Inside, the entrance hall was opulent, filled with crystal chandeliers, polished marble floors, and classical oil paintings. Standing at the far end of the hall, near a pair of double doors leading into a private dining room, was Anthony Falcone.

Falcone was sixty-two years old, silver-haired, immaculate in a tailored three-piece suit, holding an espresso cup in his hand. Standing beside him were two European executives wearing expensive dark suits—the foreign representatives from Apex Maritime.

When Falcone saw Damian walking into his hallway, his glass espresso cup slipped from his fingers, smashing into pieces on the white marble floor.

"Damian..." Falcone stammered, stepping back into the doorway of the dining room. "What... how did you get past my security?"

"Your security was relying on Victor Kroll," Damian said, walking slowly down the hallway, his boots clicking evenly against the marble. "And Victor Kroll was relying on Marcus Vance. And Marcus Vance was relying on Arthur Vance."

Falcone’s face went completely red, then drained to a sickly gray. He tried to turn and run into his private office, but Frank Rossi stepped through the side terrace doors, cutting off his escape route with four tactical men.

The two Apex Maritime executives panicked, raising their hands high in the air and yelling in French, desperate to separate themselves from the situation.

"Sit down, Anthony," Damian commanded, taking a seat at the head of the long mahogany dining table.

Falcone stood trembling near his chair, his arrogance completely shattered. "Damian... listen to me. This was a business proposal! It wasn't personal!"

"A business proposal?" Damian asked, his voice dropping into a register that made the entire room grow quiet. "You put poison in my six-year-old son's pillow for three years. You hired a fake nurse to slow-kill him every single night. You ran my wife's car off a mountain road. And you call it business?"

"It was Apex!" Falcone yelled, pointing a shaking finger at the two terrified European executives. "They approached me! They offered forty million dollars for the Hudson container rights! They provided the chemical compound through their Swiss contacts! I was just the broker, Damian! I swear to you!"

"You were the tool," Damian corrected cold. "And tools get replaced."

Damian looked at Frank Rossi. "Take the Apex executives and hand them directly to the federal prosecutor's office along with the bank records we seized from Marcus Vance. Let the Department of Justice tear their international corporation apart."

"Understood, boss," Frank said, gesturing for two men to escort the weeping executives out to the vans.

Damian stood up, walking until he was inches away from Anthony Falcone. The older crime boss fell back into his leather dining chair, shaking violently, staring up at the man he had tried to destroy.

"You thought grief made me weak, Anthony," Damian said softly, looking down into Falcone’s terrified eyes. "You thought while I sat beside my dying son's bed, I wouldn't notice what you were doing in the shadows. But my son is going to live. And your empire ends today."

Damian reached into his coat, pulled out a stack of legal documents prepared by Dominic Mercer, and tossed them onto the table in front of Falcone.

"Sign over every property, every dock share, and every commercial asset owned by the Falcone syndicate to the Rourke Family Trust," Damian ordered. "Or you step into the basement right now with Arthur Vance."

Falcone didn't hesitate. With trembling hands, he grabbed a pen from the table and signed his name across every line, surrendering forty years of organized crime assets in less than two minutes.

Damian picked up the signed documents, checked every signature carefully, and handed them to Frank.

"What... what happens to me now?" Falcone whimpered, looking up from his chair.

"You spend the rest of your life watching everything you built belong to my son," Damian said cold, turning his back and walking out of the mansion into the bright morning sunlight.
