Chapter 3 - SWAT on the Scene

The front doors of my oceanfront estate were breached with a swift, synchronized force.
"POLICE! HANDS IN THE AIR! DOWN ON THE GROUND NOW!"
Heavy tactical boots thundered up the floating marble staircase. Within five seconds, four heavily armed SWAT officers equipped with assault rifles, tactical gear, and helmet cameras breached the master bedroom doorway.
"ON THE FLOOR! NOW!" the lead officer bellowed, pointing his rifle's laser sight directly at Sloan.
Sloan screamed, dropping to her knees instantly, weeping hysterically with her hands behind her head. "Don't shoot! I'm his sister! It's a mistake! It's a family argument!"
Corrine stood frozen, her hands raised, her expensive pearl necklace shaking against her neck. "Officer! I am Corrine Sterling! My son owns this house! He’s having a psychotic breakdown! Arrest that woman on the floor—she’s stealing his money!"
The SWAT supervisor, a broad-shouldered veteran named Sergeant Miller, glanced at me as I remained seated on the floor, holding Alora against my chest while supporting her back.
"Mr. Sterling?" Sergeant Miller asked, keeping his weapon trained on the room. "Are you the homeowner who placed the 911 call?"
"I am," I answered clearly. "The woman on the left, Corrine Sterling, and the woman on the floor, Sloan Sterling, used an unauthorized emergency key to enter my home while I was believed to be on an international flight to Tokyo. They physically assaulted my eight-month-pregnant wife, held her hostage, and used a sledgehammer to breach my personal vault."
"He's lying!" Corrine shrieked, her voice cracking into a high-pitched frenzy. "He's making it up! Alora attacked us first!"
Sergeant Miller looked at the floor. The five-pound sledgehammer lay directly beside the scuffed steel door of my $20M vault. Beside it was a open Louis Vuitton suitcase filled with Alora’s high-value jewelry, property deeds, and gold bars.
"Cuff them," Sergeant Miller commanded flatly.
Two officers moved forward with zip-ties and heavy steel handcuffs.
"Get your filthy hands off me!" Corrine screamed as her wrists were snapped behind her back. "Do you know who I am?! I am the mother of Thane Sterling! I will have your badges for this! Thane, tell them to stop! TELL THEM TO STOP!"
Sloan was dragged up from the floor, crying so hard she was hyperventilating. "Thane! Please! I'm only twenty-four! I can't go to jail! Mom made me do it! She said you wouldn't care if we took the deeds!"
"Take them to the transport vans," Sergeant Miller ordered. "Call an ambulance for the female victim immediately."
"I don't need an ambulance," Alora whispered, her hand clutching my shirt collar tightly, her eyes wide with lingering terror. "I just... I just need him."
I looked into Sergeant Miller’s eyes. "I will transport my wife to Saint Jude’s Medical Center in my private vehicle. My legal team will meet your detectives at the central station in one hour."

As the officers dragged Corrine and Sloan down the stairs, Corrine’s screams echoed throughout the multi-million-dollar mansion: "You ungrateful brat! Everything you have belongs to me! I gave you life! I WILL DESTROY YOU FOR THIS!"
I didn't even look back as the doors slammed shut.
