Chapter 7 - Reclaiming the Crown

By Friday afternoon, the transfer of Grant’s equity was completed, and the four point two million dollars was safely back in Hartwell Holdings' operating accounts.
Evelyn called an emergency press conference at the Hermitage Hotel.
Over fifty journalists, financial reporters, and local television crews packed into the grand ballroom. Cameras flashed continuously as Evelyn stepped up to the podium, wearing a brilliant ivory suit and her grandmother's gold ruby bracelet shining under the stage lights.
"Good afternoon," Evelyn said, her voice echoing clearly through the microphones. "I am standing before you today to announce a major structural reorganization of Hartwell Hospitality Group."
A reporter from the Nashville Business Journal raised his hand. "Mrs. Hart! Is it true that Grant Hart has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer?"
"Grant Hart has resigned from his position as CEO and has surrendered all ownership equity in the company, effective immediately," Evelyn announced smoothly. "Moving forward, I will be assuming the dual roles of Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of Hartwell Holdings."
A wave of hushed whispers swept through the room.
"Mrs. Hart!" another journalist called out. "There are rumors of severe financial irregularities and a corporate split! How will this affect the upcoming six-hundred-million-dollar Miami hotel acquisition?"
Evelyn smiled—a warm, brilliant, utterly confident smile that radiated across every camera in the room.
"The Miami acquisition will proceed exactly as scheduled," Evelyn declared. "In fact, we are expanding the project by adding two new luxury boutique properties in Austin and Savannah, funded entirely through our private family trust reserves. Hartwell Holdings has never been stronger, more stable, or more focused on true, authentic hospitality."
Standing near the back of the ballroom, Arthur Vance and Thomas Reed watched her with immense pride.

"She saved the entire company in ninety-six hours," Arthur murmured, shaking his head in awe. "Grant thought he was the brains of the operation."
"Grant was just the hood ornament on a Ferrari," Thomas chuckled, sipping his water. "Evelyn was the engine all along."
