Chapter 10 - THE DON’S WRATH AND THE NEW QUEEN

Two hours later.
An abandoned warehouse near the industrial docks of the Hudson River.
Skylar slowly opened her eyes. Her head throbbed painfully, and her wrists were bound tightly behind her back to a heavy iron chair in the center of a dimly lit room.
Salvatore Moretti stood ten feet away, pacing back and forth, holding a heavy revolver in his trembling hand.
"You..." Salvatore spat, looking at her with pure hatred. "A worthless maid... you ruined my family! My daughter cries herself to sleep every night! My assets are seized!"
Skylar swallowed hard, forcing her mind to stay sharp despite the lingering dizziness from the drug. "You ruined your own family, Salvatore. Bianca tried to hurt an old woman. You chose to cover it up."
"Shut up!" Salvatore screamed, stepping forward and raising the gun, pointing the cold steel barrel directly at her forehead. "Dominic Rossi thinks he can make you a queen? I'm going to send your head back to his mansion in a box!"
Skylar looked directly into the barrel of the gun. She was terrified, but she refused to give him the satisfaction of begging.
"If you kill me," Skylar said, her voice steady and cold, "Dominic won't just kill you. He will erase your entire bloodline from existence."
Salvatore’s hand shook violently. "He isn't here! Nobody knows where—"
BOOM!
The massive steel reinforced doors of the warehouse blew inward with an explosive roar, sent flying forty feet across the room in a shower of sparks and concrete dust!
Smoke poured through the breach as tactical flashbangs detonated, blinding Salvatore’s remaining men.
Through the clearing smoke walked Dominic Rossi.
He didn't wear body armor. He wore his tailored dark suit. In his right hand, he held a sleek black silenced pistol. Behind him marched thirty heavily armed Rossi enforcement operatives, led by Matteo.
Dominic's face was not human. It was the face of a demon unleashed from hell.
"Salvatore," Dominic spoke, his voice low, resonant, and dripping with pure death.
Salvatore panicked, grabbing Skylar from behind and holding the gun against her neck. "Stay back, Rossi! Step one foot closer and I blow her brains out!"
Dominic didn't pause. He didn't slow down. He didn't even raise his voice.
"You took the only woman I love," Dominic said quietly, stepping forward with absolute, terrifying calm. "You touched what is mine."
Pfft! Pfft!
Two suppressed shots echoed lightning-fast through the room.
The first bullet struck Salvatore’s wrist, shattering the bones and knocking the gun instantly from his grip.
The second bullet struck Salvatore’s knee, dropping him screaming to the concrete floor!
Before Salvatore could hit the ground completely, Dominic moved with blinding speed, dropping his gun, pulling a heavy tactical blade from his belt, and driving Salvatore face-first into the concrete floor, planting his heavy boot directly onto Salvatore's neck!
The remaining Moretti gunmen surrendered instantly, throwing their weapons to the floor, terrified of the carnage before them.
Dominic didn't waste another second on Salvatore. He motioned for Matteo to handle the traitor, then turned and rushed toward Skylar.
"Skylar!"
He dropped to his knees, his hands trembling as he pulled out his knife and sliced through her wrist bindings in a single swift motion.
"Are you hurt? Did he touch you?!" Dominic demanded frantically, pulling her into his arms, holding her so tightly against his chest that she could feel his heart hammering like thunder against his ribs.
Skylar buried her face into the crook of his neck, breathing in his woodsy scent, tears of overwhelming relief streaming down her face. "I'm okay... I'm okay, Dominic... you came..."
"I will always come for you," Dominic choked out, kissing her forehead, her cheeks, her hair, holding her as if she were made of precious glass. "Always."
Three months later.
The Rossi Estate was blanketed in a gorgeous layer of fresh white snow.
The grand cathedral downtown was filled with over five hundred guests—foreign dignitaries, business leaders, and every member of the city council.
Inside the bride's dressing room, Skylar stood before a full-length mirror.
She wore a custom-designed, off-the-shoulder lace wedding gown that flowed down into a dramatic, sparkling train. The sapphire necklace glittered around her neck, complemented by a delicate diamond tiara resting atop her styled hair.
Beside her stood her father, looking healthy, sharp, and proud in his black tuxedo, completely cured thanks to the treatment Dominic had provided.
"You look like a queen, sweetheart," her father said softly, wiping a tear from his eye.
A knock sounded at the door, and Carmela walked in, wearing a stunning silver gown. She looked radiant, her eyes sharp and clear.
"It's time, my dear," Carmela smiled warmly, walking over and placing a soft kiss on Skylar's cheek. "My son is waiting."
Skylar took a deep breath, took her father’s arm, and walked out into the cathedral.
As the heavy oak doors opened and the wedding march resonated through the grand hall, hundreds of guests stood up, bowing their heads in deep respect.
At the altar stood Dominic Rossi, looking extraordinarily handsome in his black tuxedo.
As he watched Skylar walk down the aisle toward him, the feared Mafia Don—a man who had never bowed to anyone in his life—felt tears pool in his eyes.
Skylar reached the altar, her hand slipping securely into Dominic’s strong, warm grip.
They turned to face the priest, surrounded by love, respect, and absolute devotion.

And in doing so, she had won the heart of a king, claiming her rightful place as the indisputable Queen of the Rossi Empire.
