Chapter 8 - The Confrontation at the Pier

The storm raged violently as Gio, Isadora, and their remaining men emerged onto the rain-slicked wooden piers of the private harbor. Docked fifty yards away, swaying violently against the dark waves, was a luxurious eighty-foot mega-yacht—the Imperator, Marco Rossi's floating fortress.
Rain tore through Isadora’s clothes, her severe hair knot coming undone, dark strands whipping across her face. Gio walked beside her, his suit ruined, his weapon held low at his side, looking every bit the ruler of the Amalfi Coast.
They boarded the vessel without resistance; the deck guards had already been neutralized by Gio’s outer patrol. Moving into the main salon, they found Marco Rossi sitting on a white leather sofa, sipping cognac, an entourage of terrified associates surrounding him.
Marco was a man in his late sixties, with slicked-back white hair, heavy golden rings on his fingers, and a face lined with decades of cruelty and ambition.
"Giovanni," Marco said softly, setting his glass on a glass coffee table. He didn't look surprised, though his eyes widened slightly when he saw Isadora standing at Gio’s side. "And Julian's little girl. I must admit, I didn't expect you to survive the night."
"Your plan was flawed, Uncle," Gio said, stepping into the center of the room. "You relied on Donati, a man whose loyalty could be bought with four million euros. My loyalty was built on something you never understood: honor."
Marco chuckled dryly, shaking his head. "Honor? Honor died with your father on that driveway in Naples. This world belongs to those who take what they want. You’ve become weak, Giovanni. You spend your days running restaurants and pleasing politicians, while I control the shipping lanes, the docks, and the money."
"You control nothing," Isadora declared, stepping forward, her voice carrying across the quiet luxury of the yacht. "My father kept duplicate ledgers of every bribe, every assassination, and every illegal transaction you conducted behind my father’s back. He hid them in the family vault in Naples—the key to which was hidden inside this locket."
She held up the silver crest she had taken from the restaurant table earlier.

Marco’s calm demeanor shattered. His face paled instantly. "That’s impossible... Julian destroyed those documents!"
"He didn't," Gio said coldly. "He gave them to the only person he trusted to keep them safe: his daughter. And three hours ago, before I came down to the kitchen, those files were transmitted directly to the Anti-Mafia Directorate in Rome."
