Chapter 10 - The New Dawn

Six months later.
The Mediterranean sun was brilliant and warm, casting golden light over the restored marble terraces of the Moretti estate.
The dark, cold atmosphere that had hung over the house for decades was gone, replaced by the sounds of jazz music, warm sea breezes, and children playing on the lawn.
Seraphina stood near the marble balustrade, wearing a breathtaking cream silk dress that left her left shoulder exposed, showing her star-shaped scar proudly—no longer a symbol of horror, but a badge of ultimate survival.
Behind her, heavy footsteps sounded against the stone.
Elias stepped onto the terrace, dressed in a relaxed linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up, carrying two glasses of fresh lemonade.
He handed one to her, his long fingers lingering against hers.
"How is the Marseille hospital project coming along?" Elias asked, leaning against the balustrade beside her, looking out over the blue waters.
"My mother is cutting the ribbon on the new wing tomorrow," Seraphina smiled softly. "And my sister just passed her final nursing exams with honors."
"Good," Elias said, his gray eyes softening as he looked down at her. "Everything her family lost is being restored, piece by piece."
From the garden below, Leo came running up the stone steps, holding a colorful paper kite, his laughter echoing across the estate.
"Look, Seraphina! Look, Dad!" Leo shouted, flying the kite behind him. "It's flying!"
Elias chuckled, kneeling down to catch his son in his arms, lifting him into the air with ease.
"You're getting too heavy for this, little man," Elias laughed, setting him down.
Leo looked up at Seraphina, grabbing her hand. "Are you coming to the beach with us, Seraphina?"
Seraphina looked at the child, then looked up at Elias, whose dark eyes were fixed on her with an open, unshakeable devotion that had transformed her life completely.
"I am always with you, Leo," Seraphina said gently.
Elias stood up, taking her hand in his, wrapping his fingers tightly around hers, sealing a promise made in the dark of a basement bunker six months ago.
She had arrived at the Moretti estate as an invisible, disposable nanny running from rent money and secret pain.

Now, standing beside the most powerful man in Europe, she was no longer hiding.
She was home.
