Chapter 7 - The Viper and the Lion

Two weeks later, the evening sky was clear and bright with stars. The grand reopening of the restaurant—renamed The Dragon & Locket—was the event of the year.

Inside, light oak paneling, warm ambient light, and floor-to-ceiling glass transformed the space. In the center of the foyer, water trickled down a custom stone dragon fountain. The staff wore crisp grey and silver uniforms, moving with pride now that their wages had been doubled and back pay fully restored.

Elena sat at the main table in an floor-length emerald green velvet gown. Beside her sat Dante and the city’s top legitimate business leaders—port authorities, shipping executives, and commercial bankers.

Elena had officially founded Moretti Global Auditing, a firm dedicated to corporate restructuring and forensic fraud investigation. On her first day, she recovered fourteen million dollars in stolen assets for a commercial bank, establishing her reputation overnight.

Dante raised his champagne glass, tapping it gently. The room fell silent.

"Twenty years ago," Dante said, his voice echoing through the hall, "my family lost its heart. For two decades, I believed strength was built on fear. But my sister proved that true power is built on courage, intelligence, and dignity."

He looked at Elena with deep pride. "To my sister, Elena. The true heart of our family."

The room erupted into applause as leaders and staff stood up to toast her. Elena smiled warmly, raising her glass. "To new beginnings. And to never forgetting where you came from."
