Chapter 7 - THE CHASE THROUGH THE LOOP
They burst out of the bank's side entrance into the pouring rain of downtown Chicago's financial district.
Screaming pedestrians scattered as gunshots rang out into the rainy afternoon.
Marcus pulled a heavy grey SUV around the corner, screeching to a halt beside the curb with the rear passenger door flying open.
"GET IN!" Marcus roared!
Daniel shoved Maya onto the leather seat, diving in after her as Marcus slammed the accelerator down! The heavy vehicle roared forward, mounting the curb and knocking over a metal trash receptacle before speeding down LaSalle Street!
Behind them, two black armored suburbans burst out of the alleyway, pursuing them at sixty miles per hour!
"They're on our tail!" Marcus yelled, glancing in the rearview mirror as bullets shattered the SUV's rear window glass!
"Get us to the river district!" Daniel ordered, leaning over the back seat to fire three rounds into the radiator of the lead chasing vehicle!
The lead suburban billowed black smoke, swerving violently before crashing into a concrete light pole with a deafening explosion of metal and glass!
Maya gripped the hard drive tight in her lap, her face pale as the city buildings blurred past in the heavy rain. "The drive is encrypted with a three-layer biometric algorithm! Even if Gregory gets it back, he can't wipe it without my iris scan!"
"Which means he won't stop until he captures you alive," Daniel said, reloading his magazine with practiced, terrifying speed. "Marcus, cut through the rail yards!"
The SUV swerved sharply down a steep asphalt ramp leading into the massive, industrial train yards along the Chicago River.
Dozens of rust-colored freight cars stood parked along miles of steel tracks. The remaining chasing suburban slammed into the side of Marcus's vehicle, pushing them toward a dead-end loading dock!
Marcus slammed on the brakes! The SUV spun three hundred and sixty degrees across the slick gravel before slamming hard against an abandoned boxcar!
The engine died with a hiss of steam.

"Out! Now!" Daniel barked!
They scrambled out of the smoking wreck, running into the maze of rusted train cars just as the second chasing team stepped out of their vehicle, weapons raised!
