Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Horizon

That evening, after the last guests had departed and the sun began to sink below the jagged peaks of the Camelback Mountains, the estate fell into a peaceful, serene silence.
I sat on the wide stone terrace overlooking the lawn, holding Clara in my lap as she drank her evening bottle.
The sky turned from bright gold to deep crimson, painting the desert landscape in soft, majestic shadows.
The front gates of the estate clicked softly in the distance as the night security team completed their perimeter check.
I looked down at my hands.
The raw, bleeding scrapes that had marred my palms twelve months ago were completely gone, leaving only smooth, healthy skin. The ache in my ribs was a distant memory.
I leaned back against the plush outdoor cushions, wrapping my arm around my daughter, listening to the soft, rhythmic sound of her breathing against my chest.
My life was no longer defined by a marriage built on lies, or by a man who thought he could use my inheritance to buy his own arrogance.
