Chapter 8 - The Runway in Paris

The Grand Palais in Paris was packed with the world’s most influential fashion critics, celebrities, and buyers. The atmosphere was charged with electrifying anticipation.

Caruso Design Group had been forced to pull out of the showcase entirely, their slot assigned to NORA BENNETT.

Dominic sat in the very back row of the balcony, hidden beneath a dark coat and hat, unable to stay away. He watched as the lights dimmed and dramatic orchestral music began to fill the grand hall.

The runway lights flared.

Model after model glided down the catwalk wearing creations that defied imagination. Nora’s designs were a triumph of raw emotion, strength, and delicate artistry—structured shoulders, flowing silk, bold crimson accents, and intricate embroidery that told a story of survival and transformation.

The crown jewel of the show was the final dress—a breathtaking ivory bridal gown featuring a visible gold-threaded seam running from collarbone to waist, turning what had once been a hidden mark into a radiant symbol of power.

When the finale ended, the entire audience stood up in a deafening, five-minute standing ovation. Critics wept, buyers cheered, and fashion icons applauded wildly.

Nora stepped onto the runway to take her bow. She wore a sleek black suit, her dark hair pulled back, her face glowing with triumph and absolute freedom. She looked directly toward the balcony, her eyes briefly catching Dominic’s in the dark crowd.

She didn't smile at him. She didn't glare. She simply bowed to her audience and turned toward the light, leaving him behind in the dark forever.
