Adrian stepped closer, looking down at my left wrist.

The silver bracelet was still there, shining brightly against the black fabric of my coat sleeve, its worn links reflecting the pale winter sunlight.

“Do you ever think about taking it off?” Adrian asked softly, his thumb gently brushing the silver charm. “Now that it’s over?”

I looked down at the bracelet, then up into his deep, silver-grey eyes—eyes that had once terrified me, but now offered an absolute, unyielding protection.

“No,” I said gently. “This bracelet used to be a reminder of what I lost. Now it’s a reminder of what I survived.”

Adrian smiled—a genuine, warm smile that transformed his entire face—and reached out, taking my hand into his large, warm palm, wrapping his fingers securely around mine.

“Then keep wearing it, Elena,” Adrian whispered, looking out over the grand, sprawling city of Chicago spread beneath us. “Because as long as you wear it, everyone in this city will know who stands beside you.”

We stood together on the high terrace, holding hands against the cold winter wind, looking out at a future built not on fear, not on lies, but on the unbreakable foundation of truth.
