Chapter 6 - A Different Kind of Alliance

The kiss was slow, deep, and intoxicating.
Luca let out a low, rough growl against her mouth, his arms coming around her waist, pulling her full, soft curves flush against his hard frame. But even in his passion, he moved with profound care. He held her as if she were precious, his hands cupping her hips, lifting her slightly until her toes were barely touching the floor.
Ellie wrapped her legs around his waist, gasping as his lips moved from her mouth down to the sensitive curve of her throat.
"Ellie," he rasped, his breath hot against her skin. "Tell me to stop if this is too fast."
"Don't you dare stop," she whispered into his dark hair.
That night, the master suite became a sanctuary of real, uninhibited passion.
Luca worshipped every inch of her body. He didn't hide her curves; he celebrated them. His hands traced the full swell of her hips, the soft line of her stomach, and the heavy fullness of her breasts with a reverence that banished every insecurity she had carried for decades. He made her feel desired, beautiful, and immensely powerful.
When they finally lay together beneath the heavy silk sheets, exhausted and glowing in the firelight, Ellie rested her head against his bare, tattooed chest, her fingers playing with the dark hair on his torso.
Luca wrapped his long arm tightly around her waist, keeping her pressed against his side as if he never intended to let her go.
"You're thinking," Luca murmured, his chin resting on top of her head.
"I'm thinking about how wrong everyone was about you," she said softly. "The newspapers call you a monster."
Luca let out a soft, dark laugh. "In my world, Ellie, being called a monster keeps you alive. It keeps men like Victor Cruz and Andrew Keller from coming after the things I care about."
"And what do you care about?" she asked, looking up into his dark eyes.
Luca turned his head, kissing her brow gently. "I care about this family. I care about this house. And above everything else, I care about you."
Over the next month, the Moretti estate transformed.
Ellie didn't stay hidden in the bedroom suite. She took over the management of the estate's domestic affairs, restructuring the house budget, organizing charity events for the Bennett Maritime workers, and establishing a new office on the ground floor where she worked directly with Luca's financial team.
She discovered she had a brilliant mind for logistics. The very skills her father and Andrew had dismissed as "glorified administrative work" were critical in streamlining the shipping routes for Luca’s legitimate transport networks.
Within six weeks, Bennett Maritime was not only debt-free, but it was also reporting its highest quarterly profits in fifteen years.
At dinner parties, when high-society guests and mafia lieutenants watched Ellie enter the room—radiant in form-fitting gowns that accentuated her stunning curves, walking side by side with the most feared man in Chicago—no one whispered anymore.

They didn't wonder what Luca Moretti saw in her.
They saw a queen who ruled her empire with iron intelligence, grace, and an unshakeable husband at her side.
