Chapter 10 - The View from the Top

That evening, Ashford Global hosted its annual leadership gala once again in the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel.

The room was filled with five hundred guests—executives, international partners, scientists, and young corporate scholars receiving full university grants from the newly established Sophia Ashford Foundation for Women in Law and Business.

I stood on the main stage, wearing a stunning emerald green gown, my dark hair styled in elegant waves, holding a glass of sparkling water.

The applause echoed through the crystal chandeliers as Arthur Pendelton stepped to the microphone to introduce me.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Arthur’s voice boomed warmly, "it is my distinct honor to present the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ashford Global Enterprises... Sophia Victoria Ashford."

The ballroom erupted into a standing ovation.

I stepped to the podium, looking out over the crowd of five hundred people. I saw true respect, genuine admiration, and absolute trust shining back at me from every corner of the room.

I didn't look for Ethan. I didn't think of Melissa. They were distant, insignificant dust particles in the long history of an empire built on truth, patience, and unyielding strength.

"Good evening, everyone," I said, my voice smooth, confident, and echoing clear across the glittering room. "Welcome to a new era of Ashford Global."

I raised my glass high into the air beneath the warm glow of the chandeliers.

"To knowing your place," I said with a soft, triumphant smile. "And owning every inch of it."

The crowd raised their glasses as one, their cheers echoing into the night sky, celebrating a woman who had turned a public betrayal into the absolute triumph of her life.
