Chapter 10 - The Legacy of Grace

One year later.

Spring had returned to Rhode Island. The coastal air was warm, smelling of wild roses, salt spray, and green grass.

At the Halcyon Crown Resort—the very place where Ethan Calloway’s empire had shattered twelve months earlier—the grand lawn overlooking the ocean was filled with two hundred guests dressed in elegant spring attire.

White rose arches lined the aisle leading to a glass pavilion built over the water. A string quartet played softly near the terrace.

In the front row sat Lord Sterling and the senior board members of Vance-Pierce Maritime, along with city officials, shipping partners, and old family friends of Arthur Vance.

At the altar stood Declan Pierce.

He wore a tailored dark navy suit, looking impeccably handsome, his eyes locked on the white carpeted aisle. Beside him stood his chief security officer, Marcus, serving as his best man.

The string quartet shifted into a grand, uplifting melody.

The crowd stood.

Walking down the aisle, holding the hand of a gentle elderly woman who had been her father's chief accountant, was Grace Vance.

She looked breathtaking. She wore a fitted ivory lace gown with a long silk train that swept over the grass. Her golden hair was pinned back with diamond hairpins that had belonged to her mother.

And carrying the flower basket just ahead of her, held safely in the arms of a trusted nanny, was little Clara—one year old, wearing a tiny white dress, her green eyes wide with delight as she giggled at the bright flower petals.

Ethan Calloway was nowhere near Rhode Island. He was currently serving a six-year sentence in a federal correctional facility in Pennsylvania, his name entirely erased from the shipping ledgers of the East Coast.

Grace reached the altar.

Declan stepped forward, taking both of her hands in his. His gray eyes were filled with an intense, radiant love that brought a warm flush to her cheeks.

"You are magnificent," Declan whispered for her ears only.

"And you are on time," Grace teased gently, referencing the six-minute meeting that had changed their lives forever.

The minister stepped forward, his voice carrying over the quiet rustle of the ocean waves.

"We are gathered here today to unite two lives, two hearts, and two legacies in the sacred bond of marriage..."

Ten minutes later, as the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Declan pulled Grace into his arms, kissing her deeply as the crowd erupted into a thunderous storm of applause and cheers.

Declan lifted Grace into his arms, turning her toward the ocean breeze, while Clara let out a happy squeal from the front row.

Grace looked out over the sparkling Atlantic water, feeling the warm sunshine on her face, holding the hand of the billionaire who had helped her reclaim her life, her child, and her name.

She was no longer the silent wife waiting in the shadows of a liar's house.

She was Grace Vance Pierce—the mistress of her own destiny, standing on top of the world.
