Chapter 10 - The Horizon

By the following spring, the sun returned to the city with a brilliant, triumphant warmth that lit up the harbor and the rolling green hills beyond the bay.
I stood on the wide wooden deck of my new coastal home—a beautiful, light-filled five-bedroom house sitting on a private cliff overlooking the ocean, surrounded by wild lavender, white roses, and tall pine trees.
Lily was nearly two years old now—a bright, incredibly talkative little girl who ran through the gardens with endless energy, her dark hair curls bouncing in the ocean breeze.
Daniel stood near the outdoor dining table, grilling fresh seafood, while my mother sat on a sun lounger, reading a book while watching Lily play with a bubble machine on the lawn.
There were no heavy mahogany boardrooms here. No cold hospital rooms. No men with inflated egos trying to measure my value against their corporate ambitions.
I walked down the wooden steps onto the soft green lawn, picking up Lily as she ran toward me with her arms outstretched.
"Mama!" she squealed happily, wrapping her small arms around my neck and pressing her warm cheek against mine. "Look! Bubbles!"
"I see them, my darling," I whispered, kissing her soft cheek. "They're beautiful."
I looked out over the endless blue horizon of the Atlantic Ocean, where the white waves crashed gently against the golden rocks below.
Behind us lay the ruined ambitions of Grant Sterling, Vivian Sterling, and Celeste Vance—three people whose greed, vanity, and cruelty had burned their own lives down to ash.

Ahead of us lay an endless expanse of freedom, infinite possibility, and a future built on truth, strength, and unwavering love.
I held my daughter tight against my heart, listened to her sweet laughter echoing over the sea, and smiled into the bright, beautiful light of a brand-new day.
