Chapter 6 - THE LETHAL DANCE

Panic erupted inside Warehouse 7!
"Kill him!" Leo screamed, stumbling backward as he pointed at Victor! "Kill him now!"
The five dock workers drew weapons, opening fire into the gloom!
Victor moved with terrifying, fluid speed. He dove behind a stack of wooden pallets as bullets splintered the wood above his head!
From the sports car two blocks away, Emma watched the thermal camera feed on her tablet. Red heat signatures were moving rapidly across the screen.
Suddenly, two new thermal signatures appeared on the roof of Warehouse 7!
"Snipers!" Emma gasped out loud.
She didn't hesitate. Ignoring Victor's warning to stay in the car, Emma grabbed a heavy tactical flashlight from the glove compartment, threw her door open, and sprinted down the rain-slicked alley toward the warehouse!
Inside, Victor rolled out from behind the pallets, firing three precise shots that dropped two attackers instantly. He kicked the legs out from a third gunman, slamming the man’s head into the concrete floor until he went limp.
He turned toward Leo, who was scrambling toward an exit door!
"LEO!" Victor roared!
Suddenly, a sniper round smashed through the fiberglass roof, clipping Victor's shoulder!
Victor stumbled back, groaning in pain as blood began soaking through his dark jacket.
On the high catwalk above, a sniper leveled his rifle, aiming directly at the back of Victor's head!
BANG!
A blinding beam of light hit the sniper directly in the eyes!
Emma stood on the lower catwalk, shining the ten-thousand-lumen tactical flashlight straight into the sniper's scope! "HEY! OVER HERE, YOU JERK!"
The sniper was blinded, swinging his rifle wildly toward Emma!
That two-second distraction was all Victor needed. He raised his sidearm, firing two shots straight through the catwalk floorboards!
The sniper let out a muffled yell and fell over the railing, crashing twenty feet to the floor below!
Victor turned, his eyes wide with shock and fury as he saw Emma standing on the catwalk. "EMMA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
"SAVING YOUR LIFE!" she shouted back, running down the metal stairs toward him!
Leo reached the side exit, throwing the door open—only to be met by Leo's own security team, who had just arrived with Mrs. Dalton, blocking the exit with heavy assault rifles!
"Drop your weapon, Leo," Mrs. Dalton said calmly, her usual stern housekeeper persona replaced by the sharp authority of a veteran lieutenant.
Leo dropped his gun, collapsing to his knees in total defeat.
Victor walked over to Emma, grabbing her by her shoulders. His face was covered in sweat and grease, his shoulder bleeding, but his eyes were blazing with overwhelming emotion.
"You crazy, reckless woman," Victor growled, pulling her flush against his chest and wrapping his arms around her tightly. "I told you to stay in the car!"
May you like
Emma rested her face against his neck, smelling the scent of rain, gunpowder, and him. "And I told you I don't listen well."
Victor pulled back slightly, looking down into her face, and without another word, he cupped her cheeks and kissed her deeply, passionately, in the middle of the blood-stained warehouse.
