Chapter 10 - The Master's Legacy

The grand opening of Le Chateau de Scott in the Loire Valley was the event of the European culinary season.
The sun was setting over the rolling vineyards, painting the sky in brilliant shades of amber, violet, and gold. The chateau’s stone terrace was filled with international diplomats, European nobility, and famous chefs from across the globe.
In the center of the terrace, a bronze plaque was mounted near the entrance of the main dining room.
John stood beside Evelyn in front of the gathered crowd, holding a glass of vintage champagne.
"Ladies and gentlemen," John announced, his voice echoing over the quiet valley. "Tonight, as we open the doors to our finest achievement, I want to dedicate this kitchen to a woman who never saw a Michelin star, but whose spirit lives in every dish served here tonight."
He gestured to the bronze plaque.
Evelyn stepped forward, her throat tight with emotion as she read the engraved words:
LA CUCINA DI MARIA ROSSI
Dedicated to the truth of simple ingredients, the wisdom of an honest palate, and the legacy of love passed down through generations.
The crowd applauded warmly as Evelyn wiped a single tear from her cheek.
John stepped up beside her, wrapping his hand securely in hers. "She would be proud of you, Evelyn."
"She would be complaining that the champagne is too cold," Evelyn whispered back with a tearful smile.
John chuckled softly. He turned her toward him, pulling her into his arms right there on the terrace, under the golden light of the French sunset.
"To fresh starts," John murmured, leaning down.
"To second chances," Evelyn replied softly.
