Chapter 6 - The Architect of Shadows

Khloe raised her head, looking at Damian through her tangled brown hair. Her mouth was freed from the black tape, leaving her lips cracked and dry.
"Damian..." she gasped, her voice hoarse from hours of cold draft. "Don't... don't listen to him. It's a setup. He didn't come for the ledgers."
"Silence, my dear," Julian purred softly, tapping the barrel of his revolver lightly against the back of her iron chair. "Let the great man figure it out himself."
Damian kept his sight locked on Julian’s face, his posture unyielding, though every muscle in his body was coiled like a steel spring.
"You brought her here to draw me into my own home," Damian said flatly. "You used my security codes to bypass the gates. Who gave them to you, Julian?"
Julian let out a short, mocking laugh. "Who gave them to me? Damian... look at your life. Look at this massive, iron-ribbed fortress you built around yourself. You thought you were untouchable because you had security teams, satellite feeds, and money."
Julian leaned down, resting his face inches from Khloe’s ear.
"You never considered that the person managing your entire life—your codes, your schedules, your safe houses, your private accounts—was the daughter of the man you murdered in Corsica."
The quiet in the wine cellar shattered into a thousand jagged pieces.
Damian’s amber eyes flicked from Julian’s face down to Khloe.
Khloe didn't look away. She stared back at Damian, tears spilling from her hazel eyes, her expression a agonizing mix of profound shame, sorrow, and terrifying truth.

"Khloe..." Damian whispered, his voice trembling slightly for the first time in five years.
"Her real name is Clara Valenti," Julian whispered, his blue eyes flashing with vindictive triumph. "Mateo’s youngest daughter. We put her in your path three years ago, Damian. Every promotion she earned, every secret file she organized, every flower you sent her... she was feeding us your world piece by piece."
