Chapter 10 - THE TRUE LEGACY

One year later.
The summer sun shone brightly over the manicured gardens of the Harrington Estate.
The heavy security guards that had once patrolled the grounds were still there, but the oppressive atmosphere of fear and dark secrets was entirely gone.
In the center of the lawn, near the restored glass conservatory, a large white tent had been set up for the annual Harrington Global Charity Gala.
There were no fake announcements. There were no desperate heiresses plotting for control.
Ethan stood near the entrance of the tent, wearing an open-collared linen shirt and trousers, holding a glass of iced tea as he watched the children from the local community hospital running across the grass.
Beside him stood Arthur Vance, looking healthier than he had in years, leaning lightly on his cane.
"You look peaceful, Ethan," Vance remarked, watching the breeze rustle through the oak trees.
"I am," Ethan replied smoothly. "For the first time in my life, I know who I can trust."
From across the lawn, Lily came running over, wearing a little yellow summer dress, her brown curls bouncing in the sun. She was followed closely by Nora, who was laughing as she tried to keep up with her energetic four-year-old.
"Mr. Ethan! Look!" Lily shouted, stopping right in front of him and holding up a small daisy she had picked from the garden.
Ethan bent down on one knee, taking the flower from her tiny hand with deep respect. "It's beautiful, Lily. Thank you."
Lily looked at him thoughtfully, tapping her chin with her finger. "Are there any pillows under anyone's dress today?"
Ethan burst into a warm, clear laugh that echoed across the quiet estate grounds.
"No, Lily," Ethan said, reaching out to ruffle her hair playfully. "No pillows. No lies. Just us."
Nora walked up, smiling softly as she placed a gentle hand on her daughter's shoulder. "She asks that every time we go to a party now, Ethan."
"And she should," Ethan said, standing up and looking out over the home his grandfather had built—a home that was finally free of its ghosts. "Truth is a rare thing in this world, Nora. I'm just glad I have the best truth-finder in New York on my side."
Lily giggled, taking her mother's hand as they walked toward the ice cream station under the white tent.

Ethan watched them go, holding the small yellow daisy in his hand. He looked up at the clear blue sky, feeling the warmth of the sun on his face, knowing that the Harrington dynasty was finally built on something that could never be broken.
Honesty.
