Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Dawn

One year later.

The dawn broke over the Tuscan hills in brilliant streaks of rose, gold, and soft blue.

Inside the master bedroom of the villa, the sunlight filtered gently through the lace curtains, illuminating the king-sized bed where Dominic lay awake.

In his broad arms, he held Naomi, who was sleeping peacefully against his chest.

And resting securely in the crook of Naomi’s arm lay a three-month-old baby girl—with dark, soft hair and bright hazel eyes that matched her father’s.

Her name was Sophia.

Dominic reached out with his large, scarred hand, his index finger gently touching his daughter’s tiny pink palm. The baby instinctively wrapped her small fingers around his finger, holding on with surprising strength.

Dominic let out a quiet, breathless laugh, tears of fierce, possessive love filling his dark eyes.

Naomi stirred softly, opening her eyes, looking up at her husband with a warm, sleepy smile.

“Is she awake?” Naomi murmured softly.

“She’s watching the sun come up,” Dominic whispered, leaning over to kiss Naomi’s forehead, then pressing a tender kiss against his daughter’s soft cheek.

Naomi reached up, framing Dominic’s jawline with her hand, pulling his face down for a soft, sweet morning kiss.

Down in the courtyard below, the iron gates sat permanently open, welcoming the morning light, the singing birds, and the warm breeze from the sea.

There were no armed guards on the perimeter. There were no bulletproof windows. There were no secrets hidden behind marble walls.

There was only a family, built not on fear, but on the quiet, unbreakable courage of a woman who had taught the most feared man in New York how to love.

Dominic looked at his wife, then at his daughter, holding them both tight against his beating heart as the golden light of a new day flooded the room.

“I love you, Naomi,” Dominic whispered into the quiet morning.

“I know, Dominic,” Naomi smiled, holding his hand tight as the sun rose over their home. “I’ve known for a long time.”
