Chapter 9 - A NEW FOUNDATION

Spring arrived six months later, bringing warm rains, blooming cherry blossoms, and bright green grass to the Falcone estate.
The heavy, dark atmosphere that had hung over the property for years was completely gone. The grand hallway no longer echoed with silent ghosts; it rang with the sounds of a home that was truly alive.
At 4:00 PM, a white limousine pulled up to the glass conservatory.
Dante stepped out, wearing a tailored charcoal suit, holding a massive bouquet of rare white hybrid roses—freshly picked from the conservatory bushes that Rosa had restored to full health.
He walked into the warm glass dome where Rosa stood waiting.
She was wearing a simple, gorgeous pale-green sun dress that hugged her curves, her dark blond hair falling in soft waves over her shoulders. She looked radiant, healthy, and deeply content.
Sophia was sitting on a stone bench nearby, playing with a brand-new box of a hundred and twenty crayons, drawing a massive colorful picture on a scroll of paper.
Dante walked up to Rosa, handing her the bouquet.
"White roses," Rosa said softly, bringing the blossoms to her nose, smelling their sweet, subtle fragrance. "New beginnings."
"New beginnings," Dante agreed.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. He didn't offer a dramatic syndicate speech. He didn't summon guards or capos. He simply dropped to one knee on the clean stone floor of the greenhouse, opening the box to reveal a stunning, flawless yellow diamond ring set in polished platinum.
Rosa gasped, her hand flying to her mouth, tears instantly welling in her hazel eyes.
"Rosa Bennett," Dante said, his voice filled with a deep, profound vulnerability he had never shown another soul. "You walked into this house when I was dead inside. You and your daughter taught me how to breathe again. You showed me that strength isn't about fear or power—it's about love, dignity, and family. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
Rosa looked down at the man kneeling before her—the man who had fought off his own dark empire to keep her safe, the man who let a toddler draw on his thousand-dollar suits, the man who loved her exactly as she was.
"Yes," Rosa sobbed softly, wiping a tear from her cheek. "Yes, Dante! Absolutely yes!"
Dante stood up, slipping the ring onto her finger before pulling her into his arms and kissing her deeply—a kiss filled with passion, relief, and the promise of a lifetime of protection and devotion.
"Yay!" Sophia cheered, jumping off the stone bench and running over to tackle their legs. "Does this mean we get cake?!"
May you like
Dante laughed—that rich, warm sound that now filled the estate every single day—and scooped Sophia up into his left arm while keeping his right arm firmly around Rosa's waist.
"Yes, little bird," Dante beamed, kissing Sophia's cheek. "We get all the cake you want."
