Chapter 6 - The Final Preparations

Sunday night was spent in the subterranean command center beneath the west wing of the mansion.

The room was lit only by the blue glow of dozens of computer monitors displaying financial networks, legal filings, and real-time surveillance feeds from Vance Global headquarters.

Arthur stood beside a long steel table covered in tactical dossiers. Marcus sat at a workstation, typing rapidly as he finalized the digital injunctions that would be served the following morning.

I stood in the center of the room, dressed in a tailored black suit, my posture straight and imposing. The wheelchair sat empty in the corner of the room, a silent prop waiting for its final act.

"Everything is positioned, Julian," Marcus reported, hitting a final key with a satisfying click. "At precisely eight-forty-five AM, we will file a motion for emergency injunction with the Federal District Court, freezing all assets associated with Martin's shell companies in the Caymans. The evidence of embezzlement is absolute."

"What about Daniel?" I asked, looking at a screen displaying Daniel's private apartment in the city center.

"Daniel met with Vance Global's chief chief financial officer two hours ago," Arthur chimed in. "He delivered the forged internal audit reports that Martin plans to use tomorrow to justify your immediate removal. We have high-definition audio and video of the entire transaction."

"He traded ten years of friendship for a senior vice presidency," I said quietly, shaking my head. "A tragic bargain."

"And Miss Vanessa?" Arthur asked.

I walked over to a monitor showing the estate's upper hallway. Vanessa was currently packing three large designer suitcases in her bedroom, selecting her most valuable jewelry and mink coats.

"She anticipates that once Martin assumes power tomorrow, she will dissolve our engagement and secure a three-million-dollar severance settlement that was written into our prenuptial draft," Marcus explained. "She has already instructed her attorneys to file the papers by noon tomorrow."

"She thinks she's leaving with three million dollars," I said, a cold, dark smile spreading across my face. "She'll leave with nothing but the clothes on her back and a subpoena for corporate conspiracy."

I walked over to the wheelchair, running my fingers along the smooth leather seat.

"Tomorrow morning at eight-thirty, Arthur, you will transport me to Vance Global headquarters in the specialized medical van," I instructed. "I will enter the boardroom in this chair. Martin will have the press lined up along the gallery. Let them take their photos. Let them broadcast the image of the fallen CEO to every financial terminal on Earth."

"And when do we hit them, sir?" Arthur asked, a vicious grin touching his scarred face.

"When Martin stands at the podium to announce the vote," I said, my voice cold as ice. "I want him at the absolute peak of his arrogance. I want him to feel the crown touching his head before I rip the floor out from beneath his feet."

"Understood, Julian," Marcus said, closing his laptop. "It's going to be a massacre."

"No, Marcus," I corrected, looking at my reflection in the dark window of the command center. "It's not a massacre. It's an eviction."

I turned and walked toward the small elevator that led back up to the main house. Before I stepped inside, I looked back at Arthur.

"Ensure Clara travels in the secondary security vehicle behind my van tomorrow," I ordered. "She stays with Marcus at all times once we arrive at headquarters."

"It's taken care of, sir," Arthur confirmed.

I stepped into the elevator, the iron doors sliding shut, carrying me up into the quiet house for one last night of silence before the explosion.
