Chapter 10 - The True Mrs. Marston

One year later.
The grand gardens of the Marston estate were bathed in the golden, luminous light of a late spring afternoon. Thousands of white hydrangeas, blooming jasmine, and delicate white roses lined the paved marble walkways leading down to the oceanfront terrace.
Two hundred guests—the elite of New England society, senior medical directors from Northlake Children’s Hospital, and international shipping executives—sat quietly on gold-trimmed chairs, watching the grand glass doors of the estate swing open.
Walking down the aisle, radiant, breathtaking, and regal, was Emma.
She wore a bespoke, off-the-shoulder gown of pure ivory silk, featuring a dramatic ten-foot train that glided smoothly across the white carpet. Her hair was styled in soft, cascading waves, topped with a delicate diamond tiara.
In her hands, she carried a bouquet of fresh white roses—the exact shade she had always wanted.
And standing at the altar at the end of the aisle, flanked by Vance and his senior directors, was Adrian.
He looked extraordinarily handsome in a tailored black morning suit, his dark eyes locked onto Emma with an intensity so pure and absolute that several guests in the audience wept openly at the sight.
There was no Cole.
There was no Tessa.
There was no Eleanor Bennett.
The betrayal of the past had been completely erased, replaced by a love so powerful, so unyielding, that no force on earth could ever tear it apart.
Emma reached the altar, stepping onto the raised marble platform beside Adrian.
He took both of her hands in his, leaning in to whisper softly so only she could hear.
“You are breathtaking, my love,” he murmured.
Emma looked up into the grey eyes of the man who had rescued her from betrayal, protected her dignity, and built a sanctuary of unconditional love around her heart.
“I love you, Adrian,” she whispered back.
The archbishop stepped forward, his voice echoing warmly over the garden terrace.
“We are gathered here today in the presence of God and these witnesses to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony...”
Twenty minutes later, after making solemn, eternal vows of devotion, trust, and everlasting love, the archbishop smiled broadly at the couple.
“By the authority vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Adrian... you may kiss your bride.”
Adrian stepped forward, wrapped his strong arms around Emma’s waist, and dipped her gently back, bringing his lips down onto hers in a profound, triumphant kiss that drew thunderous, roaring applause from the entire assembly.
As they straightened up, holding hands tightly, the archbishop turned to face the cheering crowd.
“Ladies and gentlemen... it is my absolute honor to present to you for the very first time... Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Marston!”
Emma looked out at the cheering crowd, then up at her husband, who was looking down at her with a proud, radiant smile that illuminated his stern features.
She remembered the broken, sobbing woman who had sat on a freezing stone planter outside the Harbor Crown Hotel a year ago, believing her world had come to an end.
She realized now that the end of that old, toxic life had simply been the glorious, necessary doorway to the life she was truly born to live.

Tessa had thought Cole chose her.
But in the end, the true Marston had chosen Emma—and she was finally, undeniably, home.
