Chapter 10 - THE REAL ENGAGEMENT

Six months later.
The sun shone brilliantly over the rolling green hills of the Moretti estate in Westchester.
The grand gardens were decorated with white roses, crystal arcades, and soft silk ribbons gently blowing in the afternoon breeze.
Two hundred guests filled the white chairs arranged across the lawn—business leaders, reformed associates, and friends from across the country.
Elena Moretti sat in the front row, wearing a stunning navy-blue silk dress, a handkerchief pressed against her eyes as she wept tears of overwhelming joy.
Beside her sat Isabelle and her younger brother, both happy, safe, and thriving under the new coalition's protection.
At the front of the altar stood Adrian Moretti, wearing an immaculate white tuxedo jacket, his posture noble, his face glowing with a peace he had never known before.
The string quartet began playing a soft, beautiful melody.
Down the long carpeted aisle walked Julian Vance, looking breathtakingly handsome in a matching charcoal-and-white tuxedo, holding a small bouquet of white orchids.
He walked with confidence, his eyes fixed entirely on the man waiting for him at the end of the aisle.
When Julian reached the altar, Adrian reached out, taking both of Julian's hands in his.
The justice of the peace smiled warmly at the two men.
"Six months ago," the justice spoke, his voice carrying across the quiet lawn, "a fake engagement brought two rival families together in a moment of crisis. But what began as a charade built on secrets revealed a love built on absolute trust, courage, and devotion."
Adrian looked deep into Julian's eyes, his deep voice rich with emotion as he spoke his vows.
"Julian," Adrian said softly. "For twelve years, I lived in a world of darkness, believing that love was a liability. You walked into my life pretending to be my partner... and ended up becoming my entire world. I promise to protect you, respect you, and stand beside you for the rest of my days."
Julian felt a tear slip down his cheek as he smiled up at his husband-to-be.
"Adrian," Julian spoke softly, squeezing Adrian's hands tight. "You showed me that the past doesn't define who we are. You gave me back my home, my family, and my heart. I am yours—completely and forever."
"By the power vested in me," the justice announced with a broad smile, "I now pronounce you husband and husband! You may kiss the groom!"
Adrian pulled Julian close by his waist, dipping him slightly as he pressed his lips to Julian's in a deep, passionate kiss!
The entire crowd erupted into thunderous, standing applause!
Elena cheered loudly, wiping her eyes, while Marcus threw a handful of white rose petals into the air!
Later that evening, as the sun set behind the hills, casting a golden light over the estate, Adrian and Julian stood together on the high terrace overlooking the gardens.
Adrian wrapped his arms around Julian from behind, resting his chin on Julian's shoulder as they watched the stars begin to twinkle in the twilight sky.
"So," Adrian whispered playfully into Julian's ear. "Was it worth the two million dollars my mother offered you?"
Julian turned his head slightly, kissing Adrian's cheek with a soft, affectionate laugh.

"My mother-in-law still owes me that two million," Julian teased gently, leaning his head back against Adrian's chest. "But I think I'll take payment in a lifetime with you instead."
And together, holding each other tight in the warm summer evening, the two men looked out toward their future—a life built on real love, true protection, and an unbreakable bond.
