Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Queen

Six months later.
The summer sun shone brilliantly over the blue waters of Long Island Sound.
The Bellamy estate had been completely rebuilt, restored to a grandeur far greater than before. The dark, cold concrete walls had been replaced with warm white marble, floor-to-ceiling glass, and lush garden terraces overlooking the ocean.
A massive private helicopter landed softly on the pad near the cliffside.
Evelyn stepped out of the aircraft, wearing an elegant cream silk pantsuit, her dark hair glowing in the afternoon sunlight. Behind her stepped two discrete legal aides carrying heavy leather briefcases.
Over the past six months, with Marcus Vance permanently removed and his empire dismantled, Evelyn had legally reclaimed every legitimate asset belonging to the Vance family estate—transforming the old crime syndicate’s wealth into a global philanthropic logistics foundation worth over thirty billion dollars.
She was no longer the poor waitress carrying stale croissants through Brooklyn.
She was the undisputed sovereign of her own destiny.
Dante stood at the edge of the terrace, dressed in a sharp dark suit without a tie, watching her walk toward him with a look of boundless, reverent love in his eyes.
He stepped forward, taking her into his arms and pulling her back against his chest as she reached the top of the marble stairs.
“How was Geneva, my queen?” Dante whispered, kissing the side of her neck softly.
Evelyn leaned back into his strength, resting her head against his shoulder with a deep, contented sigh. “The legal transfers are complete. The Vance Foundation officially owns seventy percent of the shipping docks in Europe. We’re converting them all into clean energy distribution networks.”
Dante chuckled softly, his deep voice vibrating against her back. “You’re turning a mob empire into a global green energy network. My lieutenants still don't know how to handle you.”
“They handle me by listening to my orders,” Evelyn replied with a playful smirk, turning in his arms to look up into his dark obsidian eyes.
Dante reached into his inner pocket, pulling out a small velvet box.
Evelyn’s breath caught in her throat.
Dante dropped slowly to one knee on the sunlit marble terrace, opening the box to reveal a flawless, breathtaking six-carat dark diamond ring—a stone rare, strong, and indestructible.
“Six months ago, I paid fifty million dollars at an auction because I thought I was buying revenge,” Dante said softly, his voice trembling with rare, profound emotion. “Instead, I found the only person in this world who could heal my soul.”
He looked up into her green eyes, his heart entirely exposed. “I don't want to own you, Evelyn. I want to spend the rest of my life earning the right to stand beside you. Will you marry me?”
Tears of pure, overwhelming joy welled in Evelyn’s eyes, spilling down her cheeks into the afternoon sun.
She remembered the terrified girl in the silver gown standing under the chandelier, bound in silk rope, believing her life was over. She remembered the cold billionaire who had walked down the aisle to buy her.
And she looked at the man holding her hand now—a king who had surrendered his heart entirely to her power.

“Yes,” Evelyn whispered, her voice breaking with happiness as she threw her arms around his neck, pulling him up to kiss him deeply under the bright, golden sky. “Yes, Dante. A thousand times yes.”
Dante lifted her off her feet, spinning her around on the marble terrace as their laughter echoed out over the vast, beautiful ocean below.
