Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Horizon

Six months later.
The spring sun shone brightly over the grand terrace of the Voss Estate overlooking Boston Harbor.
The white roses were blooming in the gardens below, their sweet scent filling the warm May breeze. Ships glided smoothly across the blue water, their colorful containers stacked neatly on the decks—many of them bearing the newly unified logo: Voss & Vane Global Logistics.
I stood near the stone railing, wearing a tailored cream silk suit, holding a leather folder containing our first quarter financial earnings report.
Our revenues were up forty percent. Pier 42 was fully operational, clean, and recognized as the premier automated green-energy port on the East Coast.
A pair of strong arms wrapped gently around my waist from behind.
I leaned back against Gabriel’s chest, letting out a long, happy sigh as he pressed a soft kiss against the side of my neck.
"You're supposed to be in the board meeting, Director," Gabriel murmured playfully into my ear, his broad hands resting over mine against the stone wall.
"The board meeting can wait five minutes, Mr. Voss," I replied with a smile, turning my head to look at his sharp profile. "The shareholders are already celebrating the quarterly dividend."
In the courtyard below, Marcus was overseeing the installation of a new high-tech security grid, waving up at us with a respectful nod.
Six months ago, I had escaped through a third-floor window on a freezing November night, wearing sixty yards of cut wedding silk, believing I was running away from my fate.
I had thought I was escaping a mob boss.
Instead, I had run straight into the arms of the only man who saw me for who I truly was—a woman built not for submission, but to rule an empire beside him.
Gabriel looked down at me, his dark eyes filled with a deep, unshakeable love that no debt, no ledger, and no syndicate could ever touch.
"Ready to go back inside, partner?" Gabriel asked smoothly, offering his arm to me.
May you like
I smiled, sliding my hand through his, my platinum sapphire ring catching the brilliant afternoon sunlight.
"Lead the way, Gabriel," I said. "We have an empire to run."
