Chapter 7 - The Evidence on the Big Screen

The fifty-foot Crestview banner behind us was automatically pulled up into the ceiling, revealing the giant LED screens.
Audio echoed through the high-end speakers of the Four Seasons ballroom—crystal clear, high-definition, unedited audio:
“Five strikes over a car I never even touched. And he still had the nerve to tell me, ‘Be grateful it wasn’t worse.’”
“You always do this!” Gavin’s voice boomed through the speakers, loud, aggressive, and unmistakable. “You cling to me because you have nothing of your own! In three days, I’m closing the biggest investment deal of my life, and I won’t let a mediocre woman ruin it!”
THWACK! THWACK! THWACK!
The sharp, sickening sound of a leather belt striking flesh filled the ballroom.
Women in the front row of the audience covered their ears in horror, while several male executives stood up in disgust, staring at Gavin with pure hatred.
Gavin buried his face in his trembling hands, collapsing into an executive chair behind the signing table, shaking uncontrollably.
"And now," I said into the microphone, "let us review the financial integrity of SwiftFreight."
I pressed the remote button again.
The video feed captured by my jacket camera played across the sixty-foot screen. Mason Gable’s face appeared in sharp 4K clarity, sitting in my living room, holding a black trash bag while laughing arrogantly:
“For months, we’ve been moving Gavin’s assets out of reach of the divorce. And in case you try to fight us, we also tied loans to the marital assets. If you make trouble, part of them could end up in your name... Almost forty million dollars!”
Mason’s face on stage turned purplish-black. He looked wildly around the room for an exit, but two Crestview guards stepped directly into his path, their arms folded across their chests.
"Furthermore," I announced, pulling a red folder from my briefcase, "forensic audits completed by Crestview Capital prove that SwiftFreight has illegally concealed a four-hundred-million-dollar loan default with Deutsche Bank, while falsifying revenue reports using offshore accounts registered to Charlotte Gable in Nevis."
I set the red folder down on the signing table, right on top of the contract Gavin had just signed.
"Crestview Capital hereby formally cancels the 3.2 billion dollar investment," I declared firmly. "And we are issuing an immediate margin call on all short-term bridge loans extended to SwiftFreight over the last twelve months, effective immediately."

The crowd erupted into an absolute frenzy.
Journalists were standing on chairs, screaming questions at Gavin, while financial news tickers across the country began flashing red text: SWIFTFREIGHT FRAUD EXPOSED – CRESTVIEW CANCELS $3.2B DEAL – STOCK DOWN 85% IN PRE-MARKET.
