Chapter 10 - The Master Contract

Six months later.
The summer sun shone brightly over the private estate on the cliffs overlooking Oakhaven Bay. The sprawling grounds were filled with white flowers, silk ribbons, and the laughter of children running across the manicured lawns.
Clara, dressed in a beautiful white flower-girl dress, was running through the gardens with Angela's daughter, her laughter echoing happily through the warm sea air.
Inside the estate's private conservatory, Helena stood before a full-length mirror, adjusting the lace veil of her wedding dress. She looked radiant, the dark shadows of her past completely replaced by peace, love, and absolute security.
The door opened, and Adriano walked into the room. He looked regal in a dark blue velvet tuxedo, his gray eyes fixing onto his bride with boundless devotion.
"You are breaking tradition, Mr. Moretti," Helena teased, turning around with a soft smile. "The groom isn't supposed to see the bride before the ceremony."
"I don't follow traditions, Mrs. Moretti," Adriano replied smoothly, stepping up to her and wrapping his arms gently around her waist. "I create them."
He reached into his inner pocket and pulled out a single sheet of heavy cream parchment, laid out with gold leaf lettering.
"What is this?" Helena asked, laughing softly. "Another contract?"
"The most important one of my life," Adriano said, holding the paper up for her to read.
It was titled: The Master Covenant of Union and Protection.
It stated, in beautiful legal script, that all assets, properties, shipping routes, and territories of the Moretti Empire were now permanently co-owned by Helena Selenus Moretti and her daughter, Clara. It guaranteed absolute legal autonomy, total financial independence, and lifetime protection by the Moretti family guards.
And at the very bottom, in small, elegant print under paragraph one, was a tiny clause that read:
'Section A: The groom agrees to always read every document twice, and to forever obey the advice of his chief counsel and her daughter.'
Helena laughed out loud, tears of pure joy glistening in her eyes as she looked up at her husband. "Did Clara help you write this clause?"
"She dictated it to me personally yesterday afternoon at her white desk," Adriano admitted with a warm grin.
Helena took the gold pen he offered, pressed the nib to the heavy parchment, and signed her name beside his.

Outside, the music began to play, signalling the start of the ceremony. Adriano extended his arm, and Helena slid her hand into his, her fingers intertwining tightly with his strong, warm grip.
They walked out of the conservatory together, stepping into the bright sunlight, ready to face the world not as predator and prey, but as equal partners, bound forever by a six-word warning that had saved both their lives.
