Chapter 10 - The Glass King's Heart

Six months later.

A private estate on the northern shore of Lake Michigan, far from the noise and memory of the city streets.

The summer sun was setting over the deep blue water, painting the sky in brilliant hues of gold, crimson, and lavender. A soft, warm breeze rustled the leaves of the old oak trees surrounding the sunlit terrace of a modern stone house.

Elena stood on the terrace, wearing a light linen dress, looking out at the calm water.

Her wrists were fully healed, the faint marks fading into soft memories. Her life was no longer defined by fear or cold numbers. As the Chief Financial Officer of Vance-Moretti Holdings, she had restructured the entire corporation into one of the most respected green-energy infrastructure firms in the Midwest, employing thousands of people in legitimate, clean work.

Behind her, soft footsteps sounded on the stone tiles.

Luca stepped out onto the terrace, wearing a simple white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin gently on her shoulder.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked softly, kissing the side of her neck.

"I was thinking about that rainy October evening at the wine bar," she murmured, leaning back into his warm chest. "About how my umbrella turned inside out, and a dangerous man caught it before it hit the floor."

Luca smiled, his hands resting gently over hers. "I wasn't dangerous that night. I was just a man who didn't want to see a beautiful woman get wet in the rain."

"You were the Glass King," she teased lightly, turning in his arms to look up into his dark eyes. "That's what Gregor called you. Impossible to read. Impossible to break."

"I was," Luca agreed, his expression turning serious and soft as he reached up to gently trace the line of her jaw. "Until a brave auditor looked across a cold warehouse and whispered my name."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, velvet-lined box. He opened it quietly.

Inside lay a simple, stunning ring—a flawless, emerald-cut diamond set in polished platinum, catching the golden light of the setting sun.

"Luca..." Elena breathed, her heart skipping a beat.

"Two years ago, I gave you up because I thought my world would destroy yours," Luca said, his voice deep, steady, and filled with an immovable promise. "I spent two years learning that my world doesn't mean anything without you in it."

He looked into her eyes, raw, open, and completely unshielded.

"Elena Marsh, will you marry me?"

Elena looked at the ring, then up at the man who had torn down a crime empire, braved federal prosecution, and brought down his own bloodline just to keep her safe.

Tears of pure, overwhelming happiness filled her eyes.

"Yes," she whispered, her voice carrying clearly across the quiet lake. "Yes, Luca. Always."

Luca slipped the ring onto her finger, pulling her into his arms and kissing her deeply as the sun dipped beneath the horizon, bathing the world in warm, eternal light.

The shadows were gone. The war was over. And the man who had once ruled through fear had finally found his home in the light of the woman he loved.
