Chapter 8 - A DANGEROUS WEDDING

The news of Adrian Vale’s sudden marriage to Clara Bennett sent shockwaves through the city's high society and criminal underworld alike. Many viewed the marriage as an outrageous scandal, while others saw it as a calculated power move by the mysterious mafia lord.

The wedding took place five days later in the grand chapel located on the high cliffs of the Vale estate. It was not a lavish, public affair, but a private, heavily guarded ceremony attended only by Adrian’s most trusted lieutenants, elite legal team, and closest associates.

Clara stood before the tall mirror in the chapel’s dressing room, staring at her reflection. She wore an elegant, long-sleeved ivory silk dress with a delicate lace veil that draped over her shoulders. She looked completely transformed from the quiet, invisible maid who had walked the halls carrying laundry baskets just weeks prior.

A soft knock sounded at the door, and Dr. Brooks stepped inside, carrying Noah, who was dressed in a tiny black velvet suit.

"You look stunning, Mrs. Vale," Dr. Brooks said with a respectful smile. "Noah is ready to see his mother."

Clara felt a wave of emotion wash over her at the title Mrs. Vale. She took Noah into her arms, kissing his soft cheek.

"Thank you, Dr. Brooks," Clara said softly. "For everything."

"It is I who should thank you, Clara," the doctor said earnestly. "You brought life back into this house. Adrian was a dark man before, but since you entered his life, I see a glint of humanity in him that I thought was lost forever."

Moments later, the heavy wooden doors of the chapel opened. Clara walked down the aisle, her heart beating furiously. At the altar stood Adrian, looking imposing and striking in a tailored black tuxedo. His eyes never left her as she walked toward him.

When she reached his side, Adrian reached out and lifted her veil, his hands surprisingly gentle.

"You are breathtaking, Clara," Adrian whispered, his eyes gleaming with genuine admiration.

The ceremony was brief but powerful. As they exchanged vows, promising to protect each other and their family through life and death, Clara felt a deep sense of commitment settling in her heart. This was no longer just a contract or a shield—it was the beginning of a real family.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," the officiant declared. "You may kiss the bride."

Adrian stepped closer, placing one hand gently behind Clara’s waist and the other on her cheek. He leaned down and pressed his lips to hers in a deep, fiery kiss that sent electricity surging through Clara’s body.

The small audience applauded, but the moment of celebration was suddenly interrupted.

The grand stained-glass window behind the altar shattered inward with a deafening crash!

Shouts and gunfire echoed through the chapel as armed men clad in black tactical gear burst through the broken windows, dropping down from the roof.

"Get down!" Adrian roared, instantly shielding Clara and Noah with his body as he drew his weapon from beneath his jacket.

Panic erupted in the chapel as Adrian’s security detail immediately returned fire, engaging the intruders in a violent, high-stakes gunfight.
