Chapter 10 - A New Chapter

Six months later.
The morning sun spilled across the hardwood floors of the stunning Upper East Side townhouse. The sound of cheerful baby giggles echoed through the spacious living room.
Alexander was rolling over on a soft play mat, while Benjamin swatted happily at a hanging toy. I sat on the plush sofa, holding Charlotte as she drank her morning bottle.
The front door unlocked, and Julian walked in, wearing a sharp gray suit but immediately throwing off his coat as he heard the babies. His face softened completely the moment he walked into the nursery.
"How are my favorite business partners doing today?" Julian asked, kneeling on the floor and gently lifting Benjamin into his arms. The baby laughed, grabbing Julian’s tie with his tiny fingers.
I smiled, watching them. Over the past months, Julian hadn't just been my business partner and legal protector—he had become an anchor, a constant stream of warmth, safety, and unwavering support for my family.
"They're thriving," I said, setting Charlotte down beside her brothers. "And how was Wall Street today?"
"Boring," Julian grinned, sitting beside me on the couch. "Mercer Capital has officially been fully liquidated and restructured under Vance-Mercer Management. Your new board meets on Monday, President Mercer."
I chuckled softly, resting my head against his shoulder. "President Mercer... I think I prefer just 'Claire'."
Julian looked down at me, his gray eyes filled with a deep, profound affection that made my heart flutter in ways I hadn't felt in years. He reached out, gently tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
"You survived the storm, Claire," Julian murmured softly. "And you built an empire out of the ashes."
I looked down at my three beautiful, healthy children playing safely at our feet, then back up into the eyes of the man who had stopped his car in the pouring rain to save a stranger.

Ethan had thought he was discarding a broken woman on a rainy bus. He had no idea that by throwing me away, he was handing me the key to the life, the love, and the family I had always truly deserved.
"No, Julian," I said, a soft, contented smile touching my lips as I reached out to take his hand. "We built this together."
