Chapter 7 - The Trap at the Port

Before the armed man could raise his weapon, the sound of multiple roaring engines echoed down the narrow residential street.
Two heavy grey armored sedans tore around the corner, slamming to a halt behind Andrew’s Range Rover, completely pinning it against the curb. The doors flew open, and six armed men in tactical vests bearing the logo of Vance Security Risk Management flooded the street, their weapons raised and locked onto Andrew and his operative.
"DROP THE WEAPON! ON THE GROUND NOW!" Marcus, Daniel's head of private security, roared through a tactical speaker.
The scarred operative froze, looked at the overwhelming firepower surrounding him, and slowly dropped his pistol onto the grass, raising his hands above his head.
Andrew’s face went completely pale. He backed away toward his SUV, his eyes darting frantically looking for an exit. "Daniel... what is this?"
Daniel stepped down from the porch, walking slowly toward his brother. "Did you really think I came to East Los Angeles alone, Andrew? I called Marcus the moment I stepped into the cab at the hospital. My private security team has been tracking your Range Rover's GPS since you picked up Vanessa outside the estate."
Two tactical officers slammed Andrew against the hood of his vehicle, pulling his arms behind his back and snapping heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.
"You can't do this!" Andrew screamed, struggling against the restraint. "I’m a Whitmore! You can't put me in prison!"
"You aren't a Whitmore anymore," Daniel said coldly, looking down at his brother. "You're a dead man who forgot to stay buried."
Marcus walked up to Daniel, handing him a secure tablet screen. "Mr. Whitmore, we intercepted Vanessa Hart twenty minutes ago as she was attempting to enter the private terminal at Van Nuys Airport. We recovered the master stock certificates and the offshore ledger files she was carrying in her luggage."
"Where is she now?" Daniel asked.
"Federal agents are holding her at the airport facility," Marcus reported. "We turned over the evidence of the embezzlement, the boat explosion, and the assault on Maria. The Department of Justice is taking over the prosecution."
Andrew looked up from the hood of the car, his eyes wide with pure panic. "Daniel... please! We’re brothers! Don't do this to me! Think of the family name!"

Daniel turned his back on Andrew, looking toward the small yellow house where Mrs. Reyes and Noah were watching from behind the window curtains.
"The family name died the night you set that boat on fire," Daniel said smoothly. "Take him away."
