Chapter 10 - The Eternal Empire

Two years later.

Night had fallen over Grayhaven. A soft, warm rain tapped against the tall glass windows of Blackwood Estate.

In the private master nursery on the second floor, dim golden light illuminated a room decorated with soft painted murals of ships and starry skies.

Ivy sat in a plush rocking chair, wearing a comfortable silk robe. In her arms, she held a four-month-old baby boy with dark hair and striking hazel eyes—little Arthur Blackwood.

The baby cooed softly, his tiny fingers tangled in Ivy’s dark hair as she sang a quiet lullaby.

The nursery door opened softly, and Ronan stepped inside. He had just returned from Blackwood Tower, wearing a dark suit without a tie, his face instantly relaxing the moment he saw his wife and son.

He walked across the soft carpet, kneeling beside the rocking chair.

He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to his baby son’s forehead, then leaned up to kiss Ivy’s lips warmly.

“How is he?” Ronan whispered softly.

“Just falling asleep,” Ivy smiled, her voice low and sweet. “He has your energy, Ronan. He didn't want to stop looking at the lights.”

Ronan looked down at his son, then up at his wife. His hazel eyes were filled with a peace he had never known in his youth—a peace bought not with violence or shadow deals, but with love, truth, and partnership.

He reached out, his long fingers gently caressing Ivy’s cheek.

“Ten years ago, my father told me that an empire is built on fear,” Ronan murmured softly. “He was wrong.”

Ivy tilted her head, resting her cheek against his hand. “How is an empire built, Mr. Blackwood?”

Ronan smiled—a warm, radiant smile that belonged only to her.

“An empire is built on love, Ivy,” Ronan whispered, leaning in to kiss her softly. “On truth. And on the extraordinary woman who saved it.”

Outside, the rain fell gently over Grayhaven. But inside the walls of Blackwood Estate, there was only warmth, laughter, and an eternal light that would never burn out.
