Chapter 9 - The Bride of Grayhaven

The morning of the wedding arrived with clear blue skies and a gentle breeze blowing off the bay.
Blackwood Estate was transformed into a paradise of white roses, silver silk, and glowing lanterns. Three hundred guests filled the grand lawn overlooking the ocean—executives, dock workers, community leaders, and international dignitaries.
In the master bridal suite, Ivy stood before the full-length mirror.
She wore a breathtaking, custom-built lace and satin wedding gown. The dress was designed specifically to celebrate her voluptuous shape: a corset bodice embroidered with tiny pearls, a sweeping A-line skirt of heavy cream satin, and an off-the-shoulder lace neckline that framed her collarbone beautifully.
Her dark hair was styled into glamorous, romantic waves, cascading down her back, crowned by a delicate veil of antique lace.
Beside her stood Emily Carter—the young catering assistant Ivy had saved on the night of the strike. Emily was now Ivy’s personal executive assistant at Blackwood Tower, looking gorgeous in a dusty-rose bridesmaid dress.
“You look like an angel, Miss Ivy,” Emily said, wiping a tear from her eye.
“Thank you, Emily,” Ivy smiled softly, looking at her reflection.
There was no trace of the frightened, hidden maid in the mirror. There was only a confident, magnificent woman ready to take her place beside the man she loved.
Malcolm knocked gently on the door, stepping inside in his finest formal coat.
“It is time, Miss Ivy,” Malcolm said, his eyes misting with pride. “Mr. Blackwood is waiting.”
Ivy took a deep breath, gathered her bouquet of white roses, and walked out into the sunlight.
The orchestra began to play a powerful, triumphant melody as Ivy appeared at the head of the stone aisle.
The entire crowd stood up.
At the altar, standing beside the lake, was Ronan.
When he saw her, his breath hitched. He stood frozen, his hazel eyes locking onto his bride with an intensity so profound that several guests gasped softly. The fierce, terrifying boss of Grayhaven looked completely undone by the sheer beauty of the woman walking toward him.
Ivy walked down the aisle with grace and pride, her eyes fixed entirely on Ronan.
When she reached the altar, Ronan stepped down to take her hand, lifting her fingers to his lips, kissing them with absolute reverence.
“You are my dream, Ivy,” Ronan whispered.
The ceremony was short, powerful, and deeply moving.
When the priest reached the final vows, Ronan held both of Ivy’s hands in his.
“Ivy,” Ronan said, his deep voice carrying across the silent lawn. “You came into my life in the shadows, carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. You saved my family, my empire, and my heart. I promise to stand by you, to honor you, to protect your dreams, and to love every piece of your beautiful soul for all the days of my life.”
Tears of pure happiness shone in Ivy’s eyes as she spoke her vows.
“Ronan,” Ivy said softly, her voice steady and clear. “You saw me when I was invisible. You gave me a home when I was lost. You loved me not despite who I was, but because of who I am. I give you my heart, my loyalty, and my life, forever.”
“By the authority vested in me,” the priest announced, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!”
Ronan didn't wait.

He wrapped his strong arms around Ivy’s waist, pulling her flush against his chest, lifting her slightly off her feet, and brought his lips down onto hers in a deep, passionate, eternal kiss that echoed across the bay.
The crowd erupted into thunderous, joyous applause.
