Chapter 5 - The Siege of Brookline

Inside the safe room, the sound of gunshots was muffled, sounding like heavy hail hitting a tin roof.

Khloe sat at the small metal desk inside the brightly lit room, monitoring the villa’s security camera feeds on a bank of high-definition monitors mounted to the wall.

On the screens, the quiet luxury of the Brookline estate had descended into absolute warfare.

Kensington’s men, wearing tactical gear and black masks, poured into the main courtyard. But Dominic’s men were ready. Muzzle flashes lit up the dark, rain-soaked gardens.

Khloe watched screen four, which showed the main kitchen.

The kitchen door was kicked off its hinges. Three tactical operators rushed inside, guns raised.

Suddenly, Dominic stepped into the frame from the pantry corridor.

He didn't wear armor or tactical gear. In his white rolled-up shirt and dark trousers, he moved with lethal, terrifying precision. He fired three rapid shots. Two guards dropped instantly. The third tried to raise his rifle, but Dominic closed the distance in a heartbeat, grabbing the gun's barrel, twisting it violently, and driving a heavy tactical knife into the man's vest seam.

Khloe held her breath, her chest heaving as she watched him fight.

Dominic didn't just command men—he was a force of nature.

On screen two, another figure appeared at the front entrance of the house.

It was Senator Kensington himself, accompanied by Vivien.

Vivien was wearing a heavy dark raincoat over her stained silk dress, her face contorted with hysterical rage as she pointed toward the interior corridors. She was screaming commands at two remaining bodyguards.

Dominic stepped out into the grand foyer to meet them, holding his pistol at his side, completely unbothered by the chaos around him.

Khloe found the intercom broadcast controls on the desk, tapping the audio bypass code Dominic had shown her earlier. Instantly, the crystal-clear sound from the foyer filled the safe room.

"...think you can destroy my family over a servant?!" Kensington’s booming, arrogant voice echoed through the speaker. "I have the entire state apparatus behind me, Costello! You’re a glorified street thug!"

"You were a senator," Dominic’s calm, terrifying voice replied through the speakers. "Past tense."

Kensington sneered. "What are you talking about?"

"Check your phone, Senator," Dominic suggested smoothly. "Or better yet, ask your daughter why she sent her men into my home."

Kensington’s encrypted phone began to ring incessantly in his pocket. He pulled it out, answering it with a scowl. "What?!"

Within five seconds, all the color drained from the politician’s face. His jaw slackened, and he almost dropped the device onto the marble floor.

"The... the Treasury Department?" Kensington stuttered, his voice suddenly shrinking. "All... all Cayman and Panama assets frozen under the Kingpin Act?!"

Vivien gasped, grabbing her father’s arm. "Dad?! What's happening?!"

"Your slush funds are gone, Kensington," Dominic said, stepping forward as his remaining guards filed into the foyer, encircling the politician and his daughter. "Every bribe, every illegal shipping kickback, every penny you stole from the dockworkers' union has been broadcast to the Federal Bureau of Investigation."

"How?!" Kensington screamed, his eyes wild with terror. "Nobody had those codes! Arthur Bennett died five years ago!"

Dominic smiled—a wide, razor-sharp expression that sent chills down Khloe’s spine as she watched through the monitor.

"Arthur Bennett had a daughter," Dominic declared proudly, his voice ringing through the grand foyer. "The woman your arrogant daughter struck and humiliated in a restaurant tonight just dismantled your entire life in twenty minutes."
