Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Queen

Three years later.

The annual Vance Global Sovereign Summit was held at the historic Badrutt's Palace in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Outside, crisp snow fell softly over the majestic Swiss Alps, transforming the valley into a winter paradise. Inside the grand timbered hall of the palace, three hundred of the world's most influential heads of state, central bank governors, and sovereign fund directors gathered for the evening gala.

The atmosphere was refined, quiet, and opulent—a stark contrast to the loud, gaudy party Julian had thrown at the Plaza Hotel four years ago.

I walked down the grand staircase of the palace wearing a breathtaking, floor-length midnight-blue velvet gown, draped with a silver cashmere shawl. At thirty-two years old, I was recognized internationally as one of the fifty most powerful financial figures on the planet.

Beside me walked little Victoria, now a beautiful three-year-old girl in a matching velvet dress, holding my hand with quiet, polished confidence.

Arthur Vance stood at the foot of the stairs, accompanied by Marco and a team of discrete international security officers.

"The Prime Minister of Singapore and the President of the European Central Bank are waiting in the private lounge, Chairwoman Vance," Arthur reported smoothly, bowing his head slightly as we reached the floor.

"Tell them I will join them in five minutes, Arthur," I said softly.

"Right away, ma'am," Arthur nodded, walking ahead to clear the path.

I guided Victoria toward the high floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the snow-covered valley. The moon hung bright and full in the dark winter sky, illuminating the frozen lake below.

Victoria looked up at me, her bright dark eyes sparkling in the ambient light of the room.

"Mother?" she asked in her sweet, clear voice. "Why do all those people in the suits bow when you walk past them?"

I knelt down on the soft Persian rug, smoothing the velvet skirt of her dress, and took her small hands in mine.

"Because, my darling," I whispered gently, pressing a light kiss to her forehead, "they know that true power doesn't need to shout, brag, or push others down to be seen."

I stood up, holding her hand tightly in mine, and turned toward the grand hall where the leaders of the world waited for my instruction.

"Come, Victoria," I said with a quiet, radiant smile. "Let us show them how a queen rules her world."
