Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Six months later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the lush green gardens of the Duca estate outside Chicago. The crisp winter snow was long gone, replaced by blooming red roses, sparkling fountains, and the warm, pleasant breeze of June.

Today was the official inauguration of the new children's hospital wing in Rome—the very project that had been threatened six months ago. A grand summer gala was being held at the estate to celebrate the milestone and to honor the foundation's major benefactors.

Over two hundred guests filled the manicured lawns—diplomats, business tycoons, international philanthropists, and high-society figures.

In the center of the main terrace stood Bianca Duca, dressed in an elegant navy blue gown. Beside her stood Hannah, looking stunning in a custom-fitted burgundy dress that accentuated her gorgeous curves with absolute grace and confidence.

There were no more whispers. No more cold glances. No more subtle insults.

Over the last six months, Hannah had officially taken over as the Chairwoman of the Duca Foundation's Global Audit and Operations Board. Under her sharp, brilliant leadership, the charity had doubled its reach, cleared all remaining legal hurdles from Nicholas's fraud, and established unprecedented transparency.

Bianca tapped her microphone with a crystal glass, commanding the attention of the two hundred distinguished guests. The crowd fell silent, turning toward the terrace.

"Welcome, everyone," Bianca announced, her voice strong, clear, and proud. "Today is a day of immense joy for the Duca family. But before we present the medical center's blueprints, I want to take a moment to speak about the person who made all of this possible."

Bianca turned her head and looked directly at Hannah with tears of genuine pride in her eyes.

"Six months ago, our foundation faced a crisis that almost destroyed thirty years of work," Bianca said publicly, her voice echoing over the loudspeakers. "And in our darkest hour, it was my daughter-in-law, Hannah Duca, who saved us. She possesses a mind of incredible brilliance, a heart of boundless courage, and an unwavering commitment to the truth."

Bianca took Hannah’s hand, holding it high in front of the entire gathering of high society.

"Many years ago, I thought a family's strength came from its name, its wealth, and its ancient history," Bianca declared passionately. "I was wrong. A family's true strength comes from the character of the people within it. Hannah is the heart, the protector, and the true leader of this family. I am honored—and deeply humbled—to call her my daughter."

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause.

At the edge of the terrace, Roman stood leaning against a stone pillar, dressed in a sharp black suit. He watched his wife stand under the golden afternoon sun, holding the respect and admiration of every person in attendance.

His heart swelled with immense love and pride.

Hannah caught his eye across the crowd and gave him a subtle, beautiful wink. Roman smiled, raised his champagne glass to her in a silent toast, and walked forward to join his wife—knowing that together, they were truly untouchable.
