Chapter 7 - A New Dawn

Two weeks later.
The morning sun streamed brightly through the high windows of a luxurious private room on the maternity floor of Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The room was filled with vases of fresh white lilies, yellow roses, and colorful plush toys.
Grace sat up comfortably in her bed, wearing a soft pink robe, looking radiant and healthy. Beside her bed stood a high-tech infant incubator. Inside, wrapped in a tiny pink fleece blanket, slept little Hope Williams—now weighing four pounds four ounces, breathing completely on her own, and thriving.
Daniel sat on the edge of the bed, holding Grace’s hand, a bright, tearful smile on his face as he watched his newborn daughter sleep.
The door knocked softly, and Adrien Whitfield stepped inside, wearing a dark grey suit without a tie, carrying a small leather folder.
"Good morning," Adrien smiled gently.
"Mr. Whitfield!" Grace said, her face lighting up. "Please, come in."
Daniel stood up, offering his hand. "Good morning, sir."
Adrien shook Daniel’s hand warmly before walking over to the incubator, looking down at little Hope with a look of profound, gentle affection.
"She looks more beautiful every day, Grace," Adrien said softly.
"The doctors said we can take her home next Friday," Grace shared, tears of joy sparkling in her eyes. "She's a little fighter."
Adrien nodded, walking over to the side of Grace's bed and setting the leather folder on the bedside table.
"I brought some paperwork from the Whitfield Foundation," Adrien explained smoothly.
Grace frowned slightly. "Paperwork?"
Adrien opened the folder, displaying three signed, legally binding documents.
"First," Adrien stated, "the Whitfield Family Trust has established a two-million-dollar educational trust fund for little Hope, fully covering her healthcare, private schooling, and university tuition."
Grace gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. "Mr. Whitfield... no! That is far too much—"
"Do not interrupt me, Grace," Adrien said with a warm, playful smile. "Second, Daniel’s auto repair shop has received a full commercial debt clearance, and the Whitfield Enterprise fleet contract has been awarded exclusively to his shop for the next ten years."
Daniel stared at Adrien in utter disbelief, his jaw dropping. "Mr. Whitfield... I... I don't know what to say..."
"And third," Adrien continued, looking directly at Grace with deep respect, "as soon as you are ready to return to work, you are no longer our housekeeper. You are appointed as the Executive Director of the Whitfield Estate Household Staff, with a tripled salary, full medical benefits, and flexible hours."

Grace burst into tears, throwing her arms around Adrien’s neck. "Thank you... thank you so much, Adrien!"
Adrien held her gently, patting her back. "You saved this family from a terrible mistake, Grace. It is the absolute least I can do."
