Chapter 9 - THE UNBROKEN BOND

Three months later.

The grand gardens of Moretti Manor were ablaze with autumn colors. Crisp orange, red, and gold leaves drifted gently through the cool air, settling onto the manicured green lawns overlooking New York Harbor.

A white marble gazebo had been decorated with hundreds of fragrant white lilies, fresh roses, and glowing crystal lanterns.

Fifty guests sat in the gilded chairs—high-ranking associates, legal representatives, and doctors from Mount Sinai, including Clara’s grandmother, who sat happily in the front row in a velvet armchair, wrapped in a warm cashmere shawl.

At the front of the gazebo stood Ricardo Moretti, looking breathtakingly handsome in a navy blue tuxedo, his dark hair neatly styled, his eyes gleaming with an absolute, unshakeable happiness.

Beside him stood Dante, holding two small gold wedding bands on a velvet cushion.

The grand string quartet began to play a gentle, melodious waltz.

Every guest stood up, turning toward the rose garden path.

Clara walked down the white carpet aisle.

She wore an exquisite, custom-made lace gown that flowed around her like liquid pearl, her dark brown hair styled into elegant, soft waves crowned with tiny white orchids. She carried a bouquet of fresh white roses in one hand.

In her other hand, she held the tiny hand of four-year-old Leo Moretti.

The little boy wore a matching miniature navy tuxedo, looking handsome, healthy, and radiant. He walked beside her with a proud, happy smile, carrying himself like a true prince.

When Clara reached the steps of the marble gazebo, Rico stepped down to meet them.

He reached out his hand, taking Clara’s fingers into his, bowing his head to kiss the back of her hand with deep, reverent tenderness.

"You look breathtaking, Clara," Rico whispered, his silver eyes shining with unbidden tears.

"You don't look too bad yourself, capo," Clara teased softly, her hazel eyes sparkling with love.

The priest stepped forward, opening his leather-bound book.

"Dearly beloved," the priest began, his voice echoing warmly through the autumn garden. "We are gathered here today to unite Ricardo Moretti and Clara Vance in holy matrimony—a union born not merely of vows, but of healing, courage, and unconditional love."

When the time came for the rings, Rico knelt down on one knee in front of Clara and his son.

He took the smaller gold band from the cushion and gently slid it onto Leo’s pinky finger.

"Leo," Rico spoke, his voice filled with raw, emotional weight. "I promise to protect you, guide you, and love you with every beat of my heart for as long as I live."

Then, Rico stood up, taking Clara’s hand, slipping the diamond-encrusted gold band onto her ring finger.

"Clara," Rico said, looking directly into her hazel eyes. "You came into my darkest hour and brought light back into my world. You healed my son, and you gave me a reason to live again. I give you my heart, my name, and my life—forever."

Clara wiped a joyful tear from her cheek, slipping her matching ring onto his finger.

"I love you, Ricardo," Clara whispered. "With all my heart."

"By the power vested in me," the priest announced, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Ricardo, you may kiss your bride!"

Rico pulled Clara gently into his arms, dipping her slightly as his lips met hers in a passionate, breathtaking kiss that echoed through the garden as the entire assembly erupted into standing applause!

Leo jumped up and down, clapping his small hands excitedly. "Yay! Mommy Clara!"

Rico pulled back slowly, lifting Leo up into his arms, squeezing both Clara and his son tight against his chest under the bright autumn sun.
